There is an impression that you play once off of R1999 and for the next 12 months you get 5GB... essentially R1999 per year. Although I'm not sure, I'll wait for CellC to officially release the product before getting my hopes up.

Not only that, they have shown that they won't take us seriously because we must Tell a Joker about their bad service or non service.
 
I would like to see a coverage map soon!

R167 a month isn't too bad especially for ppl who can't get ADSL
 
This is a step in the right direction. Way better than Vodacom and MTN.

I all else fails you can always phone Trevor. :D
 
Erm, if Cell C never actually announced a launch date, why on earth is everyone going on about the fact that the leaked supposed launch date came and went? They never promised the 20th officially, so they shouldn't be treated as if they did.

Of course they did.

Calling their network '4G' was an absolutely deliberate action of misrepresentation to try and position it as 'better' than the MTN and Vodacom networks it will need to compete with.

what bunch of tossers.

Cell C R1999 for 21mb 4G dongle + 60gb data is a steal for a mobile always on connection. Too good to be true. Just the Telkom phone line rental I am forced to pay and never use, covers that.

Definitely canning the adsl once the launch is official.
 
hi there i check with a manual search on the cellphone in 3 areas in port elizabeth i have 3g cellc coverage. i saw the promo pamphet in the cellc store with thr pricing but they do not know the launch date. no stock has arrived yet

If those prices are right then mobile data pricing is going to significantly change soon, and unless the blue and yellow teams come to the party they will have a big problem.

R999 / 12 = R83.25/month for 2 Gig. Heck that's only a little bit more than what you pay for a BIS/BES service on Blackberry
R1999/12 = R166.58/month for 5 Gig. MTN charge R150 for 300Meg. Wow, for just a bit more you get 5 gig.

Why are people complaining about this instead of wildly celebrating? I know a lot of iphone users who would gladly pay R83.25 a month to be able to use 2 gig on their phones. Android users too.

Can anybody confirm the quoted pricing?

Agreed fully.....it was never offically announced by Cell C, either pricing or launch date.
People on this forum need to take a chill pill.
i hear that they are only rolling out city-by-city first and not countrywide at once
 
If true, then the in bundle data will be cheaper than Neotel.
 
Guy at Cell C told me the launch was supposed to be 17 Aug 2010.

Do not be fooled by this 21Mbps hype. Radio planners will tell you that real world speeds are far far less than this, and it is also a shared access medium.

Cell Copyright bleating about 21Mbps is like Telkom claiming ADSL is 40Mbps, when they are actually talking about the total bandwidth available to all subscribers using the service on a single DSLAM. Each customer is certainly NOT getting their own dedicated 21Mbps air interface.

I also don't see how Cell Copyright has suddenly installed high speed backhaul on all their towers to support this higher speed when all the other operators are still struggling with this.

Bottom line - buyer beware. If it works in your area - great stuff. Please remember, you are dealing with people who have lied and misled the public for weeks now and made goofs like that "4G" nonsense.
