Cell C network problem complaints

Thing is they have also launched a new ad campaign on radio and tv, which makes all sorts of claims. Problem is they cant provide a good service at present, and launching a campaign to get more subscribers is going to make things worse.

This. Their current ad campaign is very aggressive and I'm sitting there thinking WTF?! Their network can't handle the load as it currently is and yet they're trying to add more subscribers?!

At least it's still working fairly well in Bloem, no real complaints here. I can even use EDGE to browse when I'm too lazy to turn on 3G. VC's EDGE was generally useless before I ported.

Also from Bloem, but I've experienced more and more dropped calls, failed sms's and short periods of not being able to browse the last couple of weeks...

My wife and mom-in-law ported to Vodacom after being with Cell C for 10 years. Their only reason was voice call quality, or lack thereof on Cell C.

I had so much trouble with my Giga 200 that I just had to let it go and sign a Vodacom data contract. The worst is that when I and others complained on the Cell C section of the forum we were told to stop complaining by other users.

I'm glad it made it to the news. The data and voice quality has been awful of late.

Cell C really needs to look into this. What irks me most is seeing a 3g signal but no data is coming through! This even happens in high density areas like the High Court in Pretoria. I was impressed with Cell C rates and took out 2 contracts with them. I also recommend them to my friends but now they are complaining with me. I have no choice but to reassess my dealings with them when my contracts come to an end. Vodacom begins to look more and more tempting despite their high rates.

Here where I am sitting now I have an 80% signal and 3G connectivity showing. Nothing will come through if I try to use it, unfortunately it was the same with MTN.

Cell C still has the best prices, but seems there is a reason for this....

I work in Fricker Road in Illovo and live in Morningside, both busy areas in Sandton, but i can't use my phone at either place. I can only use it on the ride to and from work, otherwise no signal for data or voice. These are not exactly out of the way places. Means i have a nice healthy balance of free minutes I can never use.

things have improved on my side I get between 1mbps and 2mbps during peak hours and 4mbps late at night, less disconnects then before infact a day ends without problems but it can still be better though

I had to take my mom to the emergancy ward last night. They wanted a huge deposit so i had to make some calls to arrange it. Could not phone. Poeple phoned me and did not get through. You get connected and could not hear the other person. Took me 2 hours to sort out. When the ceo wants to spin some bs he is fast to talk to mybb. But now they do not respond. Allen get your head out of your ass and fix yout **** network.

Cell C is like a cheap girl.

Fine for a very short time.

But you will not introduce her to your friends nor enter in a lasting relationship.

Good bey, and darling don't phone me, I will phone you.

Much like some of their employees!:D

Meh, the cracks are showing in cell c's network. It was to be expected though. I have a cell c data sim and I find when I travel it will often connect but have no throughput. I always end up having to create a wifi hotspot with my mtn phone to actually get any work done.

I had a cell c contract a few years ago and had endless billing hassles, they even continued to bill me for 6 months after the contract was closed - every time I called them they said I wasnt a customer and my account was closed.

Three years later... revenge is a dish best served cold :)
Cheer up mate. So grumpy! They'll be in Gauteng soon then they'll basically have all the major centres covered. You can't deny they are faster and cheaper than any other 3G service.
Yes, cheaper and worse.
I will be picking up a few bundles in Durban over the weekend. At that price I can have a SIM permanently in my 3G notebook, as well as another in the router at home.
How did that work out for you then?
R1000 for a year of internet is not a lot. You pay once and you get 2gb a month.
Its a lot if you get no service.
As for service - I was in and out of their shop in less than 5 minutes, RICA done, the works!
Yes, and how is the service of their network?
MTN & Vodacom knows it and they would have to come up with a lot more than to worry if Cell C is saying 4Gs instead of 3.75G
No, they already have it, its called a beter network. Een wat net werk.
Seriously dude, I just don't understand your unwarranted hatred of Cell C, do you like being ripped off ?
Do you? Understand me now?
BWahahaha! I Can't make out if your being serious or not...I'm just gonna take it with your stride and hope to all that is mighty you have just been taking the piss in this thread. If not,You need help.
No, Cell C needs help.
Why not be hyped about value for money services?
Because the network quality is inferior - just as I told you.
I've just realised...I've been trolled!
Dammit, shame on me.
Don't feed the troll anymore guys!
True, you got trolled alright... by Cell C!!!
Eh..You really are just trolling... hater's gonna hate...
No, I was not, and hopefully you can now finally see that.

Cell C is broken, and will be broken for a very long time.

Like I've posted in some previous posts before, they are seriously in debt and aren't going to be getting out of it anytime soon. They just don't have the cash to pay for new equipment, and they don't need to. You're locked into a 2 year contract with them, and there is no way you have any way to get your money back. If you want data/voice, you need to port at your own cost plus pay the penalty.

They are criminals, even worse than MTN and Vodacom.

@CELLC - My VODASCUM CONTRACT EXPIRED TWO MONTHS AGO. Never renewed. really want to get on the bandwagon, but TERRIFIED cos this is my business line.

Alan, make a plan, boet...

I always had good speed 3G connection on my Cell C sim here in the northern suburbs (Edgemead-Goodwood-Parow area) and all of a sudden the last two days I am limited to an Edge connection which doesnt even work.
Pah. Their network is slowly but surely getting congested and the bad signal cancer is spreading methinks.

ding ding ding - CellC works awesome for me - both Vodacom and MTN failed in the same coverage areas (Bryanston and Broadacres). Full 3G signal all the time.
