For the past 3 months or so I permanently have issues with dropped calls. It's to the point where I honestly believe I have to make most calls more than once. Some calls I have to try up to 5 times before getting through. It's irrespective of where I am in Cape Town or signal strength. Most of the time I have full signal, not that that really mean anythings.

Is anybody else having problems?

Try switching to Vodacom under Network settings - Cell C have roaming agreement - same cost

Unfortunately where my office is I know Vodacom has issues :) half the reason why I moved

Depends where in Cape Town. I have excellent reception when visiting Green Point area and reception is good in Table View also, although not as good as in Green Point.

Cape Town is a big place.

I haven't noticed any problems, in town or southern suburbs.

Sure it's not your phone, what are you using? (colleague is experiencing the same thing on Vodacom iPhone 4S)

Check your SIM card... is it quite old... could cause problems. Otherwise, the phone's internal antenna might be faulty.

The simcards are both pretty new. One is about 18 months, the other less than 12 month.

Well... if it is just me and my wife having issues I'll have to write it off to the handsets.

You definitely not alone. When i first ported to cell c 2 months ago signal was great full 3g almost anywhere. Now it constantly drops to edge and sometimes gprs. Calls get dropped frequently and i Also have to dial 3-5 times befor a call goes thru. I Also get lots of sms's saying that I've got missed calls. This is pathetic. I am in wynberg and grassy park in cape town most of the time when this happens. My wife and i both have this problem and we are both with cell c.

Same Here, Recently moved to Cell C, must say I regret it at this stage.

I work very close to the Civic Centre, my phone is non existant during the day, people complain they cant reach me, whenever I try and phone someone it will just give 'Not registered on network' error. Signal, WHAT SIGNAL?!

Whatsapp messages sent to me at 8am, reach me at about 7pm at night.

We should log a formal complaint, i thought it was only me.

EDIT: Might get a response: http://hellopeter.com/cell-c/complaints/horrible-coverage-in-cape-town-central-1166795

Unfortunately I find it the same as the OP says.
About 80% of the calls I make/ receive have issues: the other party can't hear me or vice versa.
I have a handsfree car kit and in my driving around have issues.
Worse though, get them whilst stationary too.

I moved to Cell C when I got my new phone, around May... In the beginning, it was once or twice, but recently, I get a few sms's to say I've got a voicemail, no sign of a phone call. Sometimes I must hang up and redial as the person on the other side can't hear me, or I can't hear them. And many times, I will have the mobile data and network just collapse. So no internet or calls/sms's... I have to restart the phone, or activate flight mode, hen switch it off to reset the network settings and then it's like a flood of whatsapp's, and sms's as the network comes through... My wife too is on Cell C, and she get's the same issues. I know it's not my phone, as a relative has the same as me, but on Vodacom. Not a days issues... It's a pity I've got a contract with them, I would port so quickly... I guess you get what you pay for...
