Cell C Reward MB Problem

Good day,

I have a problem here with the reward data I'm getting from Cell C when recharging.

So I recharged with R400 yesterday to convert to a 3Gb data bundle. When I recharged, Cell C sent me an SMS saying that I got 1000Mb free data as a reward. It prevented me from buying the 3Gb data bundle, leaving me with R400 on the SIM.

So I figured the only way would be to finish up the 1000Mb and then convert.

So I used up the 1000Mb but it went over 1000Mb starting to charge on the R400 at a more expensive rate, leaving R330 on the SIM. That's fine, I figured I would recharge another R70 and then just friggin convert.

So I recharged R70 on the SIM and now I got another SMS saying I have 700Mb reward data and now I cannot purchase the 3Gb again. Crazy! I just want the 3Gb and no airtime on the SIM. Because I don't check my usage and if this 700Mb is finished it will start eating away at the R400 left on the SIM which is not what I want.

I guess this is not possible? Any ideas please? Am I the only one?

Hey

Thats strange, Are you purchasing the bundle from the CellC connector? do you have the upgraded version?
You can also put the sim in a phone and convert it there by dialing *147#

I recently purchased data from the application and it worked for me.

Lol. Cool story. Reminds me of my days as a .Net developer - encountered many similar problems, where the previous developers didn't take all possible variables into account. I just love me them race conditions...

What you need to do is finish up your current reward, but without eating too much into your airtime value. So if your balance is R400, recharge with another say R50, use up your data reward, but monitor it closely. Like. A. Hawk. When you get to the end, make sure your out of bundle usage is below R50. That way you won't need to recharge again in order to purchase the R400/3GB bundle, otherwise you'll be forced to do this whole thing again.

Also, it reminds me of this XKCD: http://xkcd.com/537/

Call Centre should be able to help with conversion. Next time you recharge, remember to convert airtime immediately to data. With CellC I haven't heard problems, your reward data is used before normal data (whichever expire first will be used first).
