Easy way to check is get a prepaid sim load some airtime and then use your phone(3g...) and check the speeds you get.
then you can verify for your self , do a speed test....
btw do we all need those speeds I just need a fairly stable connection at a decent speed, I would rather them give me 3.6 at a much cheaper rate per gig than 21 or 7.2

Dont be fooled by ALL this 21Mbps Bull

Neither the 14.4Mbps or even 7.2 Mbps

These Speeds are ONLY achievable under IDEAL LOS to the Tower with a maximum of 8 people Online and your modem is ToTally unobstructed.

However you can expect Speeds for 80% of the time of 1-3 Mbps - Download and 0-1 Mbps Upload.
Many USERS sharing a Tower. Bandwith Divided.

The Hope here is that the Connection remains Stable for Most of the Time. Thats a Big Hope for Now.

At least Cell C is trying to make some changes, Vodacom and MTN just keep raping us.

Cell C also seems to have spent a crap load of money on advertising, everywhere you look there is a Cell C add :s

Guys you ALL know the Q - BOYCOTT - MTN & VodaCom - Data - They betting big on DATA - Lets make them LOSE BIG

We will Control Data Prices -

We all on a mission - every User that switches Makes a Difference - Yes you - Your Money Counts
So we ALL into Telkom-Mobile or Cell-C whichever Suits you for Coverage and PRICE

Why not launch a 3.6Mbps service? Futile to boast about 7.6/21Mbps, if you only archieve an unsteady 3Mbps.

im in PE and the tower is almost next to my house and i still receive edge.

is it true that you only get 21mbps on one of the "opening specials" ? meaning the new network is not available to the existing clients or prepaid ? and if not when are the planing on opening it fully ?

i dont understand how a launch can be successful when the current cell c users cant make use of the new network ? = FAIL in my eyes.

Hi There

I went to a Cell C Store today. I saw the package in action speeds are good.Spoke to the one rep from there Head Office I ask about the roll out they said Bloem Is Next them Cape Town and Then East London. JHB is last Monday I am going in to get there Data Card For R999

JNB last? Last!! :(

But we are the most important city in ZA!! Trevor, over here, yes over here. Look I've got R2999 for you (and a little honorarium for moving JNB up the list, cough cough) :D

When i was in the store my phone picks up the 3g tower but it does not register on the tower. they told me only the data sims or the new modems will register at presnt on the towers as thses sims are config to give data preferance.

Are data sims those 128K?

What a bunch of FOOLISH false advertising. Was hoping for CHANGE, Had sleepless nights towards launch date. Where i live can only pick up Vodacom HSDPA outdoor and none indoors. There is no Edge at all. Had to settle for Gprs. Only if Vodacom can improve 3g coverage i have no much of a problem with their prices as i buy Advanced 500 @ R185 = 37c/mb in and oob.

Before you say anything pls dont get me wrong as i used to pay R2/mb and now 37c/mb. R185 for every second month equates to R92.50 monthly. I am not a heavy internet user therefore dont go oob that much.

I see the point that some members of this forum have made regarding Cell C's prepaid broadband offerings (one year upfront payment). Concerns about poor service delivery while being locked into this long term agreement are valid. However, the Consumer Protection Act (other than telling Trevor) will be the tool to protect against poor service delivery from Cell C or any other service provider in case of unfair, dishonest or other unreasonable dealings.

Is the special offer available in durban yet - i mean, can i get the modem and sim at that price?

Also, does anyone know if it's true that the modem comes with a 32GB SD card??

No, it is not (available in Durban).

Rumour is that Durban is next with another city.

I've not seen any info about a SD card.
