After 17 calls to the "Customer service" centre, 3 Hellopeter complaints, numerous Facebook complaints - I am still no closer to getting any assistance from CellC. I have had 3 months of the worst service and the worst network coverage imaginable. Every day I struggle with 0 data speeds, constant call cutoffs (sometimes 5 -7 cutoffs on a 10min call). I get handed from the "customer service" department to the networks department and back - with no help. I have spoken to Arisa, Prabashni, Belinda, Shaheed, Sissa, Lerato, Ntembiso and many others, I have filled in network forms, I have a reference number (3072402117). I have been promised emails, callbacks, follow ups - but nothing has been forthcoming. In my latest Hellopeter complaint, i was promised that it would be handled as a "priority" and that i should expect a call back that day - nothing received.

all I can recommend to others is to not even consider moving to CellC

Same here, I've given up.

Same here. They should can the promo whereby you recharge and receive free data.

I have a GIGA 200 sitting here doing nothing over a period of 6months might forfeit all my data. 180Gb

To make matters even worse my mom purchased a RedBull Mobile Starter pack for her iPad she is an irate customer. Service never works doesn't matter where you go around Johannesburg.

Guys.. the 900Mhz frequency is the problem.. I recommend getting an old Cell C data card which only supports 2100Mhz... You will see a major improvement..

Now before u ignore this.. I have recently come by a old cell c data card and i tried it out... worked beautifully... got constant 2Mb speed.. not bad from 2Kb to 2Mb.. and im in durban and i got direct line of sight to the cell c tower..

But then came along Afrihost with an awesome offer!!!

This

I im using 2100Mhz all the way.. had to force the phone to that frequency though.. pain is i cant roam on Vodacom but i "always" have data throughput

Most cellphones use diffraction, multipath reflection, local repeaters and rapid handoff to get to the tower.
I am pretty sure you do not understand such terms like multipath reflection, diffraction and "rapid handoff".
Just example:
- Multipath reflection is an obstacle to the communication and should be avoided.
- Diffraction is not observed at cellular frequencies and distances.
- Rapid handoff - you must be network engineer to understand fully this term.

Who is trolling? Your moderator? :)

And this is why Vodacom is still tops in my book. They may not be the cheapest but I have always had good service from them.Been having problems with reception in my area and was able to convince their tech team to install a booster without much hassle.

i have a open call with them to honor an ICASA ruling / instruction for 2 months now, and they just ignoring me

All my calls were disconnected today. Gave them a chance and they f it up so hello vodacom first thing tom morning

Hi muazzamb, may you please PM me your contact details, I would like an opportunity to assist with your request, and hopefully you wont have to go through the hassle of changing networks. *DM*

Not sure if it is my imagination but switched on CELL C and all of sudden I see full signal bars before I would get 1 if I am lucky, tried making use of their data network and finally getting throughput *Must mean a lot of users jumped the wagon off to Afrihost mobile*

Line of sight isn't a factor when it comes to cellular signals.

Agreed you could connect with full signal bars but there could be over 1000 data users making use of that site.
Noticed on Wi-Fi if I have 1 bar, download speed is weak, if full bars, faster download rate

If that is the case then I will have to read the steps how to change the Freq band on the smartphone I know this was brought up several of times already.

Redundancy all the way for me I learnt via trial and error being stranded with a particular network couldn't even get through to 112.
