Hi guys.

My first post here, but I have been browsing alot and find the forum very helpful.

My question relates to Cell C upgrades. You are allowed to upgrade in month 21 of a 24 month contract. However, when I went to them, I was informed that I will have to pay in additional monthly amounts for the 3 months not yet expired - effectively amounting to buying out the remaining unexpired term.

Has anybody else experienced this? I have never had to do it before. I thought the whole purpose of early upgrades was to give you a benefit to lock you in to a further long term contract.

Any thoughts/experiences?

I upgraded my Cell C contract the other day, also on the 21st month of the contract. I did not pay anything extra except for an upgrade fee of like R150 or something. The people at the store were also about as useful as a herd of Persian unicorns as nobody knew how the free data portion of the new contract would work. After HelloPetering I eventually received a call from somebody from Cell C that explained how it works.

My old contract was however cheaper than the new contract, so I have no idea how it works if this is the other way around.

Hope you come right and if you struggle with them just go to Hello Peter and complain there, seemed to be the only thing that worked for me.

Cheers

Yes, I am a bit confused.

The amounts I am talking about is in addition to the R150 upgrade fee. I am also moving from a cheaper to more expensive contract, but on top of the more expensive monthly fee, they want to charge these additional amounts!?!
