Cell C VoWifi reliability

As I'm not in SA and on Cell C prepaid I rely on VoWifi to get SMS on my South African number.

While Cell C VoWifi generally works fine, I do notice that is not really reliable on the secondary iPhone I use for this.
It always has the latest official IOS on it but sometimes VoWifi is connected and sometimes it isn't. It takes a few toggles of Airplane mode, and VoWifi before it enables. Then it might stay for a few minutes or a few hours before it needs to be toggled again.

Just curious if that is expected or if there is something that could make this more stable? I'm on a 1GB fibre and because its a secondary phone it stays at the apartment all the time. Looking at smokeping logs for the last couple of weeks there isn't any connectivity issues.

My experience with Cell C's implementation of VoWiFi has been much the same.

I also have VoWiFi enabled on my Vodacom and Telkom Mobile sims, and they do not exhibit the Cell C like behaviour you mentioned.

I believe Cell C needs to tweak / optimize / fix their VoWiFi implementation.

I have the opposite experience with VoWifi on my S8 and S10. For me it sticks to VoWifi even if wifi signal is so bad there is no data connection it sticks to vowifi and I have to toggle the wifi off for it to switch vowifi off.

How did you get VoWiFi activated on Telkom.
I can’t get them to activate VoLTE.

I was invited to the trial.
As I understand VoLTE and VoWiFi is currently being tested in a closed user environment, and is not publicly available as yet.
In my experience both VoLTE and VoWiFi works really well on the Telkom network.

Yup been rebooted a few times. Still no service.

I agree cell c vowifi has been a bit flanky lately I also thought it was my phone and swapped sims between iPhone SE and iPhone 8plus and it sometimes works sometimes doesn't yet my Vodacom sim seems to be working just fine over vowifi. Both sims prepaid.

Ever since the update it hasn’t been working.

No issues on Samsung S8 so must ios related.

No point in vowifi unless you are out of country or have very poor signal because the uncapped vowifi bundle is not that wow either when you look at the fair use policy.

We're not experiencing any issues in relation to WiFi Calling at the moment.

The pdf says there is a page with a list of all the supported handsets, but it just redirects to telkom mobiles main page...

Any ideas if i can get VoWifi on a moto g6 plus?
If not is there a good dual sim phone thats not too pricey that would work on any SA network prepaid?

When last did you make a chargeable transaction on your prepaid sim?
Speak under correction isn't it 90 days then sim gets blocked?

I send a sms every once in a while to my overseas numbers.

To fix this issue i has to go to cell c app and toggle wifi calling. Then it started working again.

My wifi calling disappeared a day or two ago. After working without issue for a month or two.

In the app it says my device does not support it, even though it never been removed from the phone is been in the last couple it months.

While it is great when it works, it sucks when it doesn’t as I am overseas and dont have cellular roaming as its a prepaid sim. Vowifi is the only way to access my number.

Nope. Sent you a DM yesterday with the number if you can check if and maybe manually enable it again on the system. This is an old iPhone SE on IOS 13.3
