Cell C vs Telkom Mobile: 29c per minute battle

The Sim-Sonke product does not have some basic services such as Data, SMS/MMS bundles or BlackBerry services (disputed by Telkom Mobile).

The above dispute from Cell C is very stupid and informed by jealous.

It's like the 15c/Mb Cell C data rate, which only applies if you jump through hoops as well.

Cell C is just jealous.
- 75c/min (per second billing) to other networks
- 29c/MB no data bundles required (and the internet actually works amazingly well, unlike Cell C's non existent data most of the time)
- 29c/SMS

SIM-SONKE is a train smash. I checked it out and the bottom line is you pay 29c per meg for data which comes off your airtime balance because you can't buy data bundles.

Their 8ta more package is more useful.

Fact is that all the cellular companies have 1001 different ways to do things and it's just bloody confusing.

Can anyone confirm if data bundles can indeed be purchased? Last time I checked, it was disabled. Unless TM is lying.

I think that TM should have advertised it at 75c/min, still beats Cell C 99c/min.

Telkom Mobile added that it does offer data bundles and BlackBerry services on this product as a value added service.

Can I buy data bundles on SIM-SONKE?
Data bundles on SIM-SONKE shall be available at a later stage. You can use your paid for airtime for calls, SMS/MMS and data.

:erm:

OMG Cellc is just jealous......

75c to all networks are still the lowest.... 29c might be misleading in some way so for that yes amend that.

Blackberry services are available.

No there are no Data Bundles available YET..... I was told by the call centre and the 8ta stores that there are some interesting data bundles comming soon....

Maybe this complaint will bring about the data bundles faster..... Cellc prepaid can't even compare with sim sonke to be honest. Their network is not ideal for data too.

Is it always seen as a cat-fight when the operators trade blows :D

Just one hoop. Buy a bundle and you pay 15c/MB. ;)
Easy as that.

Don't be stupid, it's not clear that this only applies after you buy a bundle for your contract every month. They advertise in bundle and out of bundle rates are 15c/Mb, so lots of people here were caught in that trap.

Cell C subsidises this with international roaming costs apparently. R200 / Mb.

Be careful that you don't chug their Kool Aid too fast, you could choke and die...

What 8ta should do is do away with this R1 per meg OOB bs and do what Cell C does and set a fixed per meg rate. I'd love to see them undercut Cell C and introduce a 1c per meg flat rate. Within 5 years R0.001 per meg should apply.

With the TM product mentioned in the OP.... It is advertised to be 29c per meg, no bundles offered.
