CellC and updating iOS issue

I have an issue whereby I cant seem to be able to update or download iPhone updates over the air (OTA) or even via itunes. I'm able to browse and download from other sites however iOS updates specifically do not seem to work for some weird reason. I have tried updating all that I can and still no joy. The reason I suspect it can only be cellc is because the last update I had to do it on a different WIFI network. And the former one only happened after about a whole week after clicking on update.

Is there a problem perhaps with the way Cellc handles a data connection and apple servers perhaps? :confused:

He can't use iTunes either.

And bollocks to the second point.

Apple certainly don't recommend it...and third parties can sod off.
 
Itunes sees the update. Infact both phone and iTunes see the update just that when i request for it i get that network connection lost error. Happens even in windows. On phone I thought i had progress wheni discovered it somehow was downloading the update. but it was stuck at "33 minutes remaining" for several hours that I had to reboot the phone. Since then till now I havent yet gotten the iPhone to update.
 
I would however I resolved the issue days ago by downloading or rather updating the iPhone from a different WIFI network and that worked. All else works (when i have network) even app updates. Just the actual phone iOS update that never seems to work. Its all good though.
 
I have exact same issues. I have Huawei 4G router and a CellC Giga prepaid sim that refuses to update my, and the family's, iOS.

My wife has an old Vodacom Mobile Data sim that seems to work, but I haven't updated our iOS with it because the 1.7GB required would be rediculously expensive.

I did update my iOS at a friend's house who has a nepic uncapped service.

I have been in contact with various CellC support personnel, that I reached through the [email protected] posted here. It was recommended that I use an unrestricted APN, which The KZN Techincal Support Team Leaders assisted with, but still no luck.

I am assuming other CellC customers will have the same issues and I will let you know once a solution has been found.

Besides this little irritating issues, I can honestly say that I am very happy with the Giga package. But unfortunately I have two teenage daughters who sees the 100GB allowance as a goal not a limit...:-(
 
For other reason than CellC I suggest upgrading iOS from iTunes. For any major release recommended action is to sync apps with iTunes, then do full (encrypted) backup of the device. Encrypted option is required to backup your peronal data as well. Then let iTunes to downloaded iOS image (if hasn't been done already), reset phone and update from iTunes. Doing this will spare spare downloading image for every device in your family.
