Just got an SMS referring me to www.cellc.co.za/data.
It looks like the OOB rate is jumping from 15c to 99c!
That takes away one of the reasons I switched to them in the first place!

I also got this SMS. Hopefully it won't affect me because I have a 1GB bundle, but I need to be more careful.

this is the thing i have with cellc, its a love hate situation, i love thier call rates( a call to the uk lasting 7 minutes was R4.08) , and data pricing (awesome!) , but hate the *** reception / coverage,

You need to load a data bundle to be charged .15 cents p/mb oob rate. *DM*

I thought that OOB rates were always 99c and that if you loaded a bundble it was 15c. thereafter it remained at 15c for the month until the next month. So is it this that is is changing? i.e. once your bundle is used up, the OOB rate is now 99c even if the month is not over?

That's what changed. When your bundle is depleted, you will be charged .99 cents, irrespective of when you loaded the data bundle. *DM*

Thats a real bad move and one of the reasons to join cellc was to avoid the shark I guess they want their bit of blood in the water.

At least it is not R2.00 a Mb...

I will use prepaid data only. Contract data will be avoided as far as possible...

The .99 rate is applicable to prepaid & contract data, not?

Yeah must be but I have a R7.50 recurring bundle on my openline contract and had a little bit more piece of mind knowing that the OOB rate is R0.15.

Now its R0.99 and that is shocking cause you can run a bill way faster than the R0.15 per mb rate.

That's how I've been doing it , can they just change the terms of my contract at thier leisure ?

Its actually very interesting cause they are actually changing the bundle terms and since the bundle is a optional extra that you bought its not part of the contract so I think we are just screwed.

Come to think about it, I'm sure when I took out my contract in 2012, it was 300 min 300meg, and out of that 300meg it's 15c a meg,
