CellC Issues

My father has two cellc contracts on his name, he has had them for more than 8 years now I think. Now they live in Namibia and only use the phones when they are visiting. The were in January and everything was still fine and when they came back yesterday both phones weren’t working. The phones complain about being barred or something.

So I phoned the customer services last night and the first agent told me it’s because the account wasn’t paid in march after I struggled for quite a while I finally got it to her that they have a debit order to my father’s credit card which he use only to pay his South African bills with which has more than enough funds available. She then tells me I have to manually go and pay (her name was Sharon). So I asked to speak to her supervisor whose name was Lomoleno (no idea how to spell this) and obviously I got a little angry on the phone because the big concern to me was my parents both in their late fifties was driving down from Namibia a 14 hour drive and in most parts the only way to communicate is with a cellphone and especially in case of emergencies they would have had no way of contacting anyone. So she got a bit angry (very unprofessional from a “team supervisor” in a contact center) and eventually I got it out of her that my fathers account is 3 months in arrears and has been transferred to their legal department.

This is after she tells me that they had some issues on their side but it was resolved and when I asked what the issues was she didn’t want to tell me. Then after several more minutes she told me she will transfer me back to the agent and we have to update the credit card details and they will send the debit order back to the bank so that it can be paid again. When she transferred me I got cut off, obviously she wasn’t too happy with me.

So I phoned their customer services again and then I spoke to an agent called Zain, he told me that I was the 8th customer that evening that complained about billing issues and that he is sorry for this but there is nothing he can do, the quickest way for me to get the phones working again is to make a manual payment into CellC’s account and then fax the proof of payment through and then within 48hrs they should have the phones back to working order.

Now this makes me so angry why because they are incompetent do we the customer have to suffer.

I think its obvious but my father is cancelling both his contracts with them, he use to have 4 contracts with them but two already got ported to other service providers but this was the last straw.

All I am wondering about is how many other customer have not been billed in the past 3 months and how long can CellC operate without getting money from their customers?
 
My mother had the same issue. She has never had a problem with her debit order until they moved to a new system and now every month the debit order doesn't go off. I call every month to re-check the banking details etc. And confirm with them that the next debit order will go off. She is so fed up she moved to pre-paid instead.
 
Who uses Cell C? They are useless! Their customer service resembles that of Empty N and Vodacon. Only if their customer service can match their internet broadband pricing they would be a great company. Cell X
