So I really want to move to CellC once my MTN contract is up. But my entire family is advising me against it. My brother in law used to be on CellC till January this year, he constantly complained about dropped calls and sms's not going through..

Now has there been any network upgrades or differences in the last 6 months? Did he perhaps just have a crappy cellphone? How are the guys in Pretoria's experiences with the network?

I'l try and get a pre-paid sim within the next week or two to try and test out the network for myself, how much does a prepaid micro sim cost?

Thanks for any help!

Recently I had a lot of dropped calls! If they can get it sorted they would be the best by far!

On per second billing, I will be patient... :)
In my experience not much dropped calls comparing to MTN and Vodacom, but in my area these networks really suck!

It really depends what are you going to set your phone's band and connection at. If you set it on Auto and your phone is on 2100/900 gsm or is on 3G only expect a lot of network loss and disconnections. Even if your on the new 900 UMTS expect your data dongle to make that horrible disconnection tune every hour or so. Also expect buying bundles to be a pain at times where it do not want to take and customer care do not wantedt to help you because you got the sim for your birthday with a dongle and its not on your name they refuse to help you and put the phone down in your ear. Sometimes had to wait 2 days for a bundle to be activated. Otherwise I can't complain.
