hello i am currently on casual chat 100 contract that i am paying R141 for a month.

i am due a upgrade in august, wanted to know what is "best" phone i can get for about the same amount.

i currently see the samsung galaxy s for R145 , seems to be the best deal.

though see they have htc desire also , but it does not show the price ,anybody know the price of the htc desire?

also don't want to pay in anything extra if it is possible.

best for me is the most futures on it and touch screen and all of that stuff.

Regards

The Galaxy S will be a better bet than the HTC Desire as it has more storage space & memory for apps and firmware upgrades. HTC is already battling to get Gingerbread on the HTC Desire. But by that time when you will be upgrading, Samsung will probably have launched the replacement for the Galaxy S which will come with a faster processor, but probably without an AMOLED screen. The HTC Desire S should be out by that time.

Best thing I can advise you with Android is to take it on a package where you get a data bundle as well, otherwise be sure to budget for the cost a month of at least 250MB for purchasing data bundles, which with Cell C should be R100.. So far I've averaged around 300MB a month on my phone with data usage, though I do surf a lot, check my email and download apps. So for example taking the Galaxy S on that package with a 250MB bundle is going to cost you R250+ p/m, which is close in the region of the cost of a Activechat 100 package, where perhaps Cell C will give a you a data bundle with the phone which will probably be much more of use to you and you might get a more expensive phone too! I upgraded to a Galaxy S in March on a Activechat 100 package + 250MB data bundle which works out pretty nicely and doesn't cost too much.

ok i will go for the galaxy s then :P

yeah i really don't use my phone much for emails etc, but will consider a data bundle when i see the phone etc, never owned android phone before, but have played with it etc, that's why i am going for that over a bb. ( hate the bb , sister have one)

By the time August comes around, Galaxy S II will be widely available. (Guys are starting to receive their phones in the Cellular forum)

So rather wait and see what packages will be available then.

probably going to be damn exspensive :P

the diffrence i can see so far is.

720 recording vs 1080p.
1 ghz vs 1.2gzh dual core
512mb ram vs 1gig ram
