Cellphone dilemma

I can relate completely. What grinds my gears are the ones you get speak with first when the phone is answered. They have no authority and stick to the "No it is not possible and I am not budging from my position and you are wrong". That must stop - everywhere. Since I am speaking to more senior people now, I have hope that we will find an amicable solution.

Yeah, it's cause they don't have any leeway to work with. And their bosses tell them this is the line, you stick to it.

GL with your case.

In all honesty, I had similar issues with VC getting a contract adjusted and in the end decided to switch to a different network. While I do hope you can get your stuff sorted out, I would also recommend looking at alternatives.

I myself moved over to Telkom Mobile after testing their signal at the places I frequent, never found any issues. While this deal I have is no longer available (R169 for 100 min, free Telkom Wifi, unlimited TM minutes, and 5GB, plus an S3 Mini which I gave away), they do offer better options than Voda does.

For example, the Smartplan 100 with an S5 at R449 gives you:

Inclusive all-net voice minutes: 100
Unlimited Telkom Mobile to Telkom Mobile calls (for the first 12 months)
Inclusive all-network Data: 150 MB
Inclusive SMSs: 5 for 50 SMS promotion
Unlimited Wi-Fi access with a 10GB fair usage policy
Additional Telkom Mobile Data: 1GB
Additional National Network Data: 1GB

National data is used for when one does not have TM signal, then you get to roam on MTN as well at no cost due to the included data.

I am considering other networks, but will make a final decision when Vodacom comes back to me.

I do need more talk time though. I will look at what else TM and others offer

I am seriously losing hope that VDC will do the honourable thing. I have had countless discussions (most calls made by myself) with the 2 ladies who both try to help me, but it seems that even they are hitting a brick wall at every corner. Today I got another order confirmation for only the S5. I told a person at the call centre that if that is the case they can cancel this order too.

Did you make use of your 10GB free wifi? :)

Why, of course! Not due to data allowance however, solely due to the speed, as the WiFi was faster than the 3G.

Managed to organize myself that very excellent S3 Mini deal through a very helpful sales guy at Telkom Menlyn, so I'm currently paying 169 a month for 100 minutes and 5GB of data, plus the 10GB WiFi. The phone itself was given to a friend gratis since I had no need for it and it practically saves me money. Think I may very well have been one of the last to get this contract as well.

This is why I do things like cellphone contracts in store. They must give me my phone and accessories right there and then.

Maybe time to just show them the finger and look elsewhere?

I have just sent Jannie an e-mail - I did not want to do this since it was without an invite from him to help me out (not really my style). I hoped that the people already involved would be able to resolve the issue. You have no idea how much it takes from me to practice restraint especially since I am irritable having flu and all.

Done this before I went online. Since the deal was online the guys at Vodacom4U, the Vodacom shop and another one in VodacomWorld told me that it is a separate section and they can not offer the same deal. I found that strange since Vodacom to me is Vodacom and this just further complicate the whole experience with them. That's when I went back to my PC and ordered online.

UPDATE:
After a lot of arguments, hard words and negotiations, it would seem this matter with Vodacom might be settled before CoB. The result is a Galaxy S5 with a Gear 2 and 1GB data per month on a Smart L @ R699.

OK, compared to the Nexus 5, it is enormous. But you're getting something different anyway, so why not that?

Note 3 / S5 / any Samsung for that matter is so generic.

I looked at this option again, but it will not work for me. I use a calculator quite a lot and that curve will just make it see-saw all the time - I reckon that will be quite annoying. If you could flatten it an it retains it's shape, this could have been viable, but then that SIZE! Just way too big. Albeit that Samsung is so generic (agree to agree), you still get a quality product that has proved itself. I am not brand-loyal, but for my needs the S5 will be just fine and the added ADH is a huge plus in the environment I find myself in. I have weighed up everything and feel that this is the best solution for me.
