We do, we can all boycot this, let them deactivate every single SIM which hasn't registered. You'll see VC/MTN CEOs convincing their ANC govt buddies to abort this law.

I like this idea...but how will people get hold of me then?

Will this also apply to Telkom sims?

These ANC cretins really don't have a clue.
Their electorate already kills people for their cell phones, and they'll just keeping doing this regardless of the fact that the SIM inside the phone is registered to the victim.

When they introduced car radios that needed a security code if all power was removed just meant that some of the radios stolen could not be resold - it did not stop the theft.

The only people who will register their cellphones, are going to be the ones not breaking the law. How many criminals will go register their illegal firearms, under the new law?

Sim will be deactivated within 18 months if you have not registered.

I will be waiting till the last minute before registering maybe something similar to the gun ownership court thing will happen.

what is the big deal with prepaid sim registering?

when you sign the contract with cellular network, they require more docs from you.
