Cellular companies commit daylight robbery says the IFP

I look forward to the website - maybe a little cathartic, although I am sure that any grip on the 'human suffering' caused by the likes of MTN will get lost in the long string of complaints running into each other, day after day, as has happened with Hello Peter.

They don't care because the SA consumer is too apathetic to do something.

The only way they can be forced to do something is when world+dog port over to cellc or 8ta. But that won't happen as the SA consumer...

That website will be one huge dump of misery! A black hole!

:D

You seriously expect the ANC, which are masters at robbery, to care about the people being robbed?

dear ifp. if only it were that simple (if only you didn't have any choice).
the fact is that you as a consumer need to do your homework.
stop complaining, inform yourselves and make better decisions.

perhaps you would prefer it if 8ta were the only provider?

when i was looking for quotes when i bought my car (2007 black velociti 1.4), the cheapest i got was around R1400 from the big, "we save you thousands" companies, with the highest beong outsurance at R3600... but i think she made a mistake. she must have picked veyron instead of velociti.

Inkatha Freedom Party - political party who has had a good following and support in the kzn part of south africa. Recently the support has been decreasing due to the party struggling to appeal to the new generation. Some say that the leader, buthelezi, has been leading for far to long and has lost touch with the youth. Since then the ifp is slowly disolving away.

I know the sinking feeling: "Congratulations you are now subscribed to Mary Poppins songs at RX per day" when you never asked for it, neither knew that Mary existed. It happened to me twice in the past 2 years and every time the leech was found on an official MTN website. And every time I needed hellopeter to get rid of it.

I am waiting for my 4 contracts to expire and then it is pay as you go with someone else.

It is time to address these "subscription services" and their parents (the cellular companies who are accommodating them) who are extorting money from subscribers. The dealer is as good as the stealer.

Thanks, thought it was a new consumer forum!

Thank you captain obvious.

What we need is ideas on how to get our useless gov to fix it. Clearly the SPs won't fix it...their coining it. And we can't fix it by voting with our wallets because there its a low competition market with no real alternatives...its either get screwed by VC, MTN or CellC.

And Eskom. And Telkom. And Sanral.

Come to think of it why haven't the water authorities (rand water etc) tried to screw us over yet?

This IFP member is saying he got ripped off via roaming costs? I'm sorry but that is very funny LOL :D

Political allegiance aside, any (well planned) parliamentary initiatives to push for cost reductions in SA are welcomed. Sometimes lobbying has to take the place of waiting for drawn-out processes.

I agree, roaming costs are outrageously excessive, but this is not Vodacom's fault in it's entirety.
