I've had my BB and BIS since Jan this year. Every other month or so I get charged for data usage. I REFUSE to let Vodacom get away with this and spend many hours fighting them and eventually after months of effort they do agree to refund the amounts. I've had the ability to use my BB as modem disabled. I've had the VLIVE APN on my phone disabled. This was all muted as potential reasons why I was charged for data before. Although I have never used phone as modem and never agreed to pay for data on VLIVE these 2 can no longer be a factor. STILL this month I have an additional R20 data usage. HOW DO I ENSURE THAT I DO NOT GET CHARGED FOR ADDITIONAL DATA USAGE???? NO I DO NOT HAVE ANY FUNNY apps on my phone. I use Viigo, Gtalk, BB Browser that's about it. PLEASE HELP AS VODACOM are not able to assist and are happy FREAKING me out. I would certainly NEVER advise anyone to get BB on Vodacom as they have no clue what their packages include!!!

You seem to have covered all the bases. How about talking to RIM in South Africa about this? They're apparently very helpful.

PM your cell number to VodacomData so that he can look up the detail and confirm with you if anything is wrong.

RIM is not a carrier so how are they going to help with the billing ?

If he's exhausted his options with the carrier then maybe RIM can help find out what is using the data.

Go to advanced settings and TCP, enter blackberry.net in the apn field.
Delete all other applications that did not come with your phone (for Viigo, go to viigo settings and make sure bis is set as your default), you may not be using an application but it can still be using data so DELETE everything extra (especially streaming apps like flycast, eytc). It should not be possible now for them to charge you now.

i agree; vodacom has been of NO help to me with my queries. THankfully there are people like the guys on this site and others that are very helpful.

I am on MTN and are having the same problem. I deleted all my service books and had them resend. It seems better now, but still there are "money" disappearing. MTN billing is so crap that it is difficult to track where the money is going.
