Charlize: "Afrikaans is a beautiful language...NOT!"

Charlize must be very tired of tv-hosts asking her the same questions every time and having her speak Afrikaans.

I see she has also given up trying to get it into their heads that she only had to learn the accent from watching tv-shows, not speaking the language itself.

She did say Afrikaans is a "bastard" language though. She should rather realize that this is what gives her an unique identity in Hollywood. She would otherwise just have been another blonde actress.

Cant stand her but she is as Afrikaans as can be. Her home language was afrikaans and she went to afrikaans schools.

Did not watch the youtube video though as it does not allow embedded viewing and it is not available in SA due to copyright restrictions.

Charlize Theron

I really do not like her, she irritates me a lot!

The thing I think, that really put me of about her is when she went to Mandela's old cell then asked to be left alone[but keep the media there] and then she started crying :erm:

Edit: also did not watch the youtube video.

She learned the american accent watching TV shows. She's definitely Afrikaans - she attended Laerskool Putfontein. She did an interview on Carte Blanche (?) a few years ago in Afrikaans. It was quite obvious that it was her first language.

uh maybe she has the American accent because she has lived there for so long.

eish

The same language she was brought up in (First language) The same language her mother speaks. The same mother who killed her father?

Charlize you are one crack head of a woman

I think she meant "bastardized" language TBH, meaning that it evolved from the Dutch. I don't think it was an insult.
:D

She started crying in Mandela's cell? Sheesh. PMS se Moses.

And your point is? My g/f also became emotional when we visited the cells on Robben Island. If you haven't done so, perhaps it would be an educational experience

So she can act after all :o

Afrikaans is a weird language, even some Dutch people find it funny.

Definitely a Dutch/African bastardisation.
