cheap gfx cards o.0

Wootware is still selling the reference 6870/6950 cards which is probably why they're more expensive at this point. Maybe when their new stock arrives they'll be cheaper than Prophecy? (Holds thumbs)

Judging from the picture of the 6950 at Prophecy it doesn't look like it has a reference PCB so chances of it unlocking are slim.

1375mhz x4 5500mhz :)

Yeah, technically gigabyte is wrong, they also clock their memory at 1375MHz

Thanks. My mind is still reeling after a hard day.
Didn't even think for half a sec of factoring in the multiplier /duhr!

On another note: My Gigabyte HD6970, which I just bought Wednesday, cost me R3701.00 from Take2.
These are rather decent prices;
I'm just a shaky sorta person with unknown brands. Got burned hard once before in a story long ago...

There's nothing wrong with VTX3D. They come with a 2 year warranty which is pretty much standard these days and the two stores that sells them in SA (Wootware and Prophecy, don't think there's anyone else?) are great when it comes to after sales support.

Your Gigabyte card, although priced higher it comes with a 3 year warranty, up to you whether it's worth paying extra for though. I don't see myself keeping a graphics card for more than a year.

yeha i have hd 6950 unlocked , was just wondering that ONE, will unlock as looks non reference

Damn, HD6950 for R2500 was the best deal ever. I bought a HD4870 for that price from Prophecy less than two years ago.

I knew it was too good to be true.

Can somebody explain to me why they have increased the price? Were those cards on special?

There better be a good reason else I wouldn't touch Prophecy with a ......

They probably had overwhelming response and realized they could charge more?

Soon, screen shot + consumer protection act = FTW :P
Well heres hoping anyways :/

Its been covered before, that won't get you anywhere. The new CPA you don't have to honour misadvertised prices.

Bought this yesterday at the cheap price :)
I was hoping to unlock it, but im not sure if it will work on this version, its nto the reference board :o

Are you sure? Is it not just the cooler that differs? It is quite difficult to design a high speed board like that, well expensive, and there would be no reason if you are given a proven design for free. So why would a manufacturer reinvent the wheel at great cost?

No idea, if you go to their website they have 2 versions.
I hope you are right and its just a different cooler.

Yes i can see that clearly.
Please look at this http://www.techpowerup.com/img/10-12-15/90b.jpg
Can you see the pcb is red? Can you also see its a reference board?

The MSI card you can see it says AMD on the red pcb.
On the vtx3d one it doesnt have that, so it would seem like its not the reference board. :(
