Cheap powerbanks

Battery Banks is one thing that you don't want to buy weird unknown brands because they often have shtty battery cells in them which equals shorter runtime and real danger of them catching alight.
The volkano ones might be ok, they are a semi reputable cheapie brand so shouldn't be absolute garbage but it'll still be a toss of the coin.

What's the quality like on these things? One or two xmas presents and maybe get another one for myself. Currently have a RED-E powerbank that's lasted a few years. None of these brands sound familiar other than Volkano that I know from bluetooth speakers.

Rather go for something like this

I had the bigger version of it. But bought my wife the smaller one too. Top quality. Mine lasted 5 years before giving up.

Plus one for romoss. It is about the battery quality. I am still using my 20000mah I won here on mybb some odd years ago.

DON'T ever cheap out on battery banks, it will come back to bite you in the ass....

Any suggestions on decent brands?

Hmmm these look decent as well. Don't really mind that price either.

Powerbanks are a hit and miss thing. I've had various ones over the years, all of them relatively cheap.

They performed adequately, but although I got the impression that most of them were exaggerating their actual capacity, I cannot prove it. They did what they were supposed to for the price.

An exception is a Romoss one that didn't stop charging, even when it was fully charged. It heated up the charger quite badly.

Currently I have a Xiaomi powerbank, and it's the best one I ever bought.

I agree with the first two, but Winx isn't that great.

Xiaomi is pretty good as well, and Samsung if you get a real one and not one of the many counterfeits.
I've got a few Winx products from a massive USB-C 30w battery bank to their USB-C to laptop charger cables and a 130W USB-C charger and they are all well made and work flawlessly. Maybe Winx is not the best of class but certainly decent quality.

You should start an Expensive powerbanks thread and invite @Stephan Maritz
I'm a bit late to the party but when it comes to technology, often you really do get what you pay for.

What makes this one stand out, is that it can fast charge a device, and it can also be fast charged.

The Romoss was also a fast charging powerbank, but the bank itself is not.
