Cheaper iPhone expected this week

It will replace the 4S. People are not going to get the old model for cheaper anymore, they will just have the lower cost 5C instead. And no one looks at tech specs anymore. You know that. Hell, I have no idea what the clock speed in my iPhone is

I can see how this will screw over people who are keeping their 4S neat and tidy for second hand value.

Launching a new iPhone model at the same price point as existing models ie the 4s would be counterproductive wouldn't it? The whole idea should be to penetrate into poorer markets. You can now get a 1080 Tegra4 13mp Xiaomi phone for $329. If it's not in that pricing region it's not going to have much traction.

The 4S unsubsidised is currently $550, I am guessing you meant the 4?

Tomorrow the 4 and 4S are going away for sure, maybe the 5 is as well. If the 5 stays, I expect it at $550 and the 5C at $450. Perhaps Apple could hit $350 with the 5C but I would be very surprised.

I'm hopeful that it can hit $350 for one basic reason: it's a plastic shelled iPod Touch 5 with GSM and 4G. the iTouch is $250 starting price and it's alu. It is very conceivable that they could shave manufacturing costs down to just another $100 on top of that, esp if the build material is inferior. Just looking at the leaked parts, it's clearly a move to claw back sales volumes, which is crucial for shoring up their app store quality.

The cheapest 5" iPod is $300. I also think the 5C will have an A6 and LTE. Have a look at what the wireless option adds to the price of an iPad.

Oh $300 you're right. Still.. well... ok let's just see what they announce tomorrow. I'm hoping they will aim around the $400 mark but who knows.

Guess everyone was overestimating the word cheap. By cheap it seems Apple meant $100 dollars less than the 5S...
