hostgator, R75 a month and you can host as many sites as you want with unlimited bandwidth/disk-space and cpanel/fantastico

definitely under R1k (k = thousand btw, just FYI)

http://www.hostingunlimited.co.za/hosting.html

Haven't used them, but only heard good things...

Other than that, there's not many hosting providers in SA that use CPanel and Fantastico.
Hetzner uses KonsoleH and WebAfrica use Plesk AFAIK...

Plan 1 on Hosting Unlimited is:

Plan 1 - R49 pm

* Unlimited Space
* 3.5 Gigs Traffic
* Unlimited mailboxes
* Cpanel
* Host 1 domains
* Site builder , Fantastico
* No Setup Fee's

And no...i don't work for them ... :)

+1!

Although Hostgator is offshore, but you can be assured of quality hosting and support!

They are cost-effective, and will offer you better hosting than any local hosting provider. I always recommend hostgator, especially when you expect your website to grow.

Hostgator currently hosts around 9% of the Internet, according to their own stats.

Even though they are a big company, their founder and owner, Brent Oxley (Gator_Brent), is also active on their forums. He is fantastic and always willing to help when you don't come right with their support staff.

Hostgator for me - stable, price and good support. The fact it is not local has been a problem once when there was some outage and it is fractionally slower, but the advantages outweigh these points
