Hi all. Can someone help with the above.

I basically need one of those to connect to my security system so that I can view the cameras remotely. I don't have and do not want a fixed line. The security system has an Ethernet port (RJ45 I think) so I will need a wireless modem router that has at least one Ethernet port to accommodate this. Preferably a modem router with a built in sim card slot.

Im in Durban so any ideas where I can bag one ? Thanks in advance.

If Im in the wrong thread please pardon me and move.

B683 will do (if you can still find one).
B593 (LTE) might work if you set your seurity host server in DMZ (on the router), but some firmware versions do not have DDNS (workarounds, workarounds...)
Avoid HiLink-type MiFi routers, such devices have built-in firewall and no configuration options!
Any other router accepting 3G modems should be considered, Huawei HG532c (ADSL router R250 on special in Makro), as it has failover to 3G USB stick. Just remember that such router-3Gmodem combos can run into power problems - what happen if modem hangs?

And remember, you need unrestricted APN.

I vote the Huawei B593 LTE, you are better guaranteed that the connection won't drop long as signal is lekker, unlike what happens with 3G routers where you plug in a usb modem and the connection drops now and then , sometimes not recovering and requiring plug/unplug or reboot. + LTE is just solid, you should be able to do port forwards or DMZ for the security system

Edit: R1500 at CNA/Edgars and some Telkom Mobile shops

As for B593 I remind you about lack of DDNS. Go for it if your security server (or something between) has DDNS, otherwise it can be tough...
