I also have a lot of problems with my 5800 and the 8GB card that came with it.
It seems to me that it is a problem with incorrect handling of the FAT filesystem by the phone when writing to the memory card. Hope not though, because it would be easier to fix if it is the memory card. I'm with MTN - will try to swap it out when I get to a decent service center. But it looks like a common problem for the 5800s :cry:
 
Did you manage to reliably reproduce the bug on the old firmware?
Using USB mode when connecting to a PC almost always resulted in fat errors...
