Spurs got paid a higher transfer fee. Happens all the time. If spurs launched an complaint man utd would be in trouble and you can name 20 clubs + where the same would apply. Chelsea just got done because they were dealing with lens.

I seem to remember a few stories a few years ago where teams officially made complaints about poaching and nothing came of it. I just can't remember who or when. I think many teams make official complaints as they are obviously reeling from losing their star/potential star player but when it is investigated it is found that everything was above board.

In Chelsea's case, they clearly broke specific rules and didn't follow the proper procedures.

Many sides threaten to make complaints you hear it each summer but else than auxerre and the lens one I don't remember any side actually going through with the threat. Usually this is just a way to get a higher transfer fee. Most clubs do transgress and contact players directly when they aren't allowed, they want to make sure they aren't wasting their time so they make sure the player wants to come and then approach the club. This is against fifa regulation but you will find very few clubs actually care about it. If the rules were stringently applied no club in italy or spain would be doing transfers and probably not many in england either.

The rules are basicly out of the loop of reality. Headhunting is a perfectly normal business practice but fifa doesn't want the clubs to use it.

Francis Collado, a general manager at Lens, went to London in early 2008 in an attempt to obtain compensation from Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon and director of football Frank Arnesen.

Precedent has been set, time for round two... This smacks of anti-English bullschit in all honesty. I really don;t mind having a two transfer break wrt to buying with it having a positive effect on the youth at Chelsea, but the fact that it was for this...
