Chess

If the chick is hot, all of you testosterone filled clowns would lose when she sits in front of you. lol

Im keen for a game. Registered on fics now.

I generally play short time controls, 3 0 or 1 0 and I'm on most of the time during the day.

You can add me to your notify list, I will pick it up as I connect and then invite you to a game or two.

Thanks for the games, was fun. I feel I am outclassed but I will give it a go again :).

nah I would say we may be on par or you are slightly stronger

and its just blitz on a pc, it doesn't really count

the last game was going to be fun, its a pity the game ended with all the pawns on the board

Following the world cup in Tbilisi.
Final between Ding Liren and Levon Aronian (hope he is the next world champion).

For interest's sake, SA's Kenny Solomons and Daniel Cawdry were knocked out in the first round of the World Cup.

Cawdry also isn't too far away from reaching Grand Master status.

Kenny needs to improve his rating. Many were having a chuckle over a GM with a 2400 rating.

IIRC Cawdery was knocked out by the future world champ :p. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Chokronian will never be world champion, besides the fact he is way past prime age.

Thought he played vs Aronian. Must be Kenny Im thinking about.

Edit: Just rechecked. Aronian did beat Cawdery in 1st round of this World cup.

out of the current crop of players Wei Yi is the youngest, and so I think he has the best chance, the others I feel simply don't have that bulldozing effect that Magus and Garry possess

I havent played for YONKS but would love to get back into it. Mainly for the fact that it can be played anywhere. I know practice is the best teacher, but can anyone recommend a good tutorial of strategy? Im open to any suggestion but prefer an electronic tutor of sorts if a good one exists. Im more interested in the why than the simple how if that makes sense.

Vishy showed you don't have to be young to be World champ. Carlsen is great, though I get the feeling he is getting distracted by life e.g. girlfriend, fame etc.

Levon in a good position to take the WC.

Magnus is just going through a bad patch, the same way they all do, if you reach a rating close to 2900 the only way is down

Aronian had a bad patch falling from number 2, Caruana after his seven in a row also fell from grace, Kramnik had problems recently and was inactive and Anand also had some shocking results

I played at school but wasn't very good. At an interschools event I once had to play against a girl. I won, she cried and I just sat there unsure of what to do. I don't think I'd ever felt like such a dick at school before.

I actually think Wesley So is the top contender to topple Carlsen.

Richard Rapport is an exciting, unorthodox and attacking young player who I wish would be more consistent. He could be the next Tal with the right coaching. He destroyed Carlsen last year, if I recall correctly.

Ivanchuk crushes Carlsen all the time, that means nothing if you want to become world champion, you have to crush everyone else too, especially if you want to get past the candidates

I don't think anyone out of the current players will be able to beat Carlsen in a match, Wei Yi may have a chance but even there I have my doubts, he is 18 now and by the time he is 20 his rating may be close to 2800, well within the top 10 at that point.

but in saying that I think Carlsen will be champion for atleast another two cycles.

the rapid games were a huge anti climax, I felt really bad for Ding Liren

I haven't been following Isle of Man although today's round looks interesting, Caruana vs Carlsen
