Chess

the rapid games were a huge anti climax, I felt really bad for Ding Liren

I haven't been following Isle of Man although today's round looks interesting, Caruana vs Carlsen
Sho, Carlsen destroyed Caruana. Unexpected to see white go down like that.

Looking forward to the Carlsen-Nakamura game.

Sho, Carlsen destroyed Caruana.

I think it was more a matter of Caruana getting confused.

He had a strong initiative after the opening, with all his pieces lined up on the kingside, then all of a sudden he decides to open the queen side giving Carlsen the opportunity to counter attack, and then Caruana moves all his pieces away from the attack to the queenside giving Carlsen the initiative.

it was the only game I followed in this tournament and just switched off after he started choking

You are right. Post analysis of the game (using trusty old stockfish :p) suggest move 22. Bc2 was pretty weak. Nf5 would have been interesting.

Candidates In Berlin; Who Will Play?
Karjakin, Liren and Aronian are in so far.

The fight for the two qualification spot will go between Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (not playing, having played in the first three legs), Alexander Grischuk (also not playing), Teimour Radjabov and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

So and Caruana likely in due to rating averages.

I am hoping for Vassily "chucky" Ivanchuk, as a wildcard.

I'm not sure about the Kramnik wildcard, he has no interest in being World Champion

Helloo chess lubbers :p

Aronian and So is my 2 favourites as contender for World Champ.

Rather uninteresting line up except for mamad and sasha

London started today

first tournament in a while that I'm interested in, the line up is quite strong, the weakest player seems to be Adams

edit: amazing first round, with Naka threatening Kg4++ against Anand at one stage
