Chess

The Adhiban - Mamed game is totally wild.

I stopped playing Quake so I could follow the commentary
Show, Shak is in good form to come back from that. Hopefully for him he is not peaking too soon.

I am really enjoying the broadcast. The next two days is planned around the last two rounds.

What the St. Louis broadcast misses is that the presentation shouldn't be all about chess.

I love how Gustaffson makes the broadcast like its a conversation- in the way he references pop culture and goes on his nerd rants, totally unrelated to chess, and the same goes for this broadcast, Fiona's tinder reference is probably the funniest moment I've experienced on live internet.

and then you add on top of that the amazing chess, seeing all the players go through cycles, Shak is clearly on top form and Giri is actually winning games. As a fan of Giri, it would be nice to see him win, but its hard to ignore the entertainment factor Shak brings to the yard.

I can't see Caruana recovering from this going into the candidates, the other players seem hungry.

oh and the chat in the live broadcast, if all else fails that never ceases to entertain

really cool video, its really refreshing to see Carlsen break all stereotypes that the old Russian WC's created

his willingness to engage with the chess community and fondness for pop culture will certainly help grow the game amongst the youth

That was pretty amazing. Who is jonathanB94? IIRC Carlsen lost a few times to him.

Have you joined lichess yet Saturn?

nope I haven't, having played on freechess for 17 years, its a bit difficult for me to simply migrate somewhere else

I seriously enjoyed this clip, Carlsen is just a typical nerd at his age and looks really comfortable behind a screen as opposed to infront of it

I found the bots a bit annoying. Two things that I like about Lichess are their interface and the tournaments (berserk mode hehe). Come man, it will grow on you :p.

FICS turned 23 yesterday, quite cool actually they managed to last that long as a free service

I'll check them out today. Thoroughly enjoying this tournament. Some very good games already.

nah I have to strongly disagree

Svidler and Jan are on top form this tournament, sort of like Greig and Benaud

Chessbrahs and chess24 both have a decent balance of analysis and fun commentary. I switch between depending on the entertainment factor.

Sadly it looks like Lemon Aronian pitched for this tournament.

yeah I saw that last night, truly hilarious if you understand chess and know the players

this is by far the best tournament I have ever watched, I'm sure Magnus wished he was the cat amongst the pigeons

we are certainly witnessing a golden era in chess

Shak, Fabi or the Minister of defense Karjakin with one game to go.

A Fabi-Carlsen match would likely be the most exciting. Still supporting Shak though and I won't mind a Karjakin rematch. The e4 opening disease has been cured so the games will be more exciting either way.

excellent performance by Ding

I couldn't have been more wrong about Caruana

definitely the best chess tournament I have ever witnessed
