everyone making fun of the 15 draws seen so far

they even had the arbiter read out the rules and I paraphrase "the object of the game is to defeat your opponent"

After drawing a game he should have won, Karjakin lost in the first decisive game. Hard luck.
Favourite players here are Carlsen, Aronian, So and Karjakin.

Interesting news about Gogle's Alpha Zero "learning" chess in 4 hours and beating Stockfish (one of the top chess engines).

Here is the article:

DeepMind’s AlphaZero crushes chess
20 years after DeepBlue defeated Garry Kasparov in a match, chess players have awoken to a new revolution. The AlphaZero algorithm developed by Google and DeepMind took just four hours of playing against itself to synthesise the chess knowledge of one and a half millennium and reach a level where it not only surpassed humans but crushed the reigning World Computer Champion Stockfish 28 wins to 0 in a 100-game match. All the brilliant stratagems and refinements that human programmers used to build chess engines have been outdone, and like Go players we can only marvel at a wholly new approach to the game.

I wonder if deepmind would be able to learn and trade bitcoin and what the effect it would have on the market.

Stockfish was playing at a handicap, Nakamura was not very impressed.

and talking about Nakamura, his draw against Carlsen was painful to watch

Good to see GMs play on lichess.

How about a MyBB Festive Season Tournament?
Prize: Winner gets title of "2017 MyBB Chess Champion".

Who is in?

really cool to see Nakamura playing Carlsen in SA yesterday, Naka going to be here til Sunday

really beautiful coverage of the Wijk van Zee tournament, huge amount of guest commentators, the Carlsen - Wei Ji game is probably the one I'm looking most forward to

Yeah, really nice tournament to follow. There is quite a bit of hype surrounding Wei Ji. I hope he plays a Sicilian against Carlsen's e4 and not e4 if he is white. Had enough e4e5 games.

uneventful Wei Yi Carlsen encounter but what an amazing game by Anand, crushing Caruana after drifting into his preparation

one of the two clips of Naka playing in SA, quite enjoyed watching these

The Adhiban - Mamed game is totally wild.

I stopped playing Quake so I could follow the commentary
