Chess

excellent performance by Ding

I couldn't have been more wrong about Caruana

definitely the best chess tournament I have ever witnessed
That poor performance by Fabi might just be the kick he needed to perform here. Well done to him. Still going and he may end up +4.

Grenke tournament next :)

some strong games in the Shamkir tournament but the commentary almost makes it unbearable to watch, especially the post game interviews

Chess Olympiad: China Wins Double Gold
is Olympiad champion once again. Actually, twice again.

Today in Batumi, Georgia, the open section squad won its second team gold medal in the last three Olympiads. The women's team survived a late repetition claim and successfully defended its title from 2016 in Baku. Both sections went to tiebreaks, but China emerged victorious in both after all the results came in.

Looking forward to the match between Carlsen and Caruana for the world chess champion title.

World Chess Championship 2018: Carlsen-Caruana

The championship takes place November 8-28, 2018 with the opening ceremony on the 8th, then two games, then a rest day, then two more games, then a rest day, and so on. Rounds will be at 3:00 p.m. London time. The closing ceremony (and tiebreak, if needed) is on the 28th.
Hoping Carlsen takes it before the tie break.

Well done to Magnus Carlsen!
Triple world champion for Blitz, Rapid and Classical. Legend!

I was following it on Chess24. He is just so much better than everyone else. World Champion in Classical, Rapid and Blitz chess...pure genius.

Yeah, just brilliant. From watching a few games I thought these crowns were important to him and his nerves showed in the tie breakers. But it also showed why he is the best... being able to lift his game under pressure.

It is a pity that the two people posing the biggest threat to his classical crown weren't there... Ding and Caruana.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to the candidates tournament in March 2020. I hope Ding takes it though.
