China - Taiwan Developments

The whole world sees US meddling as the biggest obstacle to world peace. Well, the whole world except for the USA and Europe. I.e the whole world minus <20%

Kind of hard for them to get recognised as a sovereign nation when China throws its weight around..

Regardless, its a hugely complicated situation that can't necessarily be boiled down to sovereignty on the international stage
Should US officials be getting involved even when they were advised by Pentagon not to?

Yes yes America always America, America this and America that omfg it's like listening to a bad Britney song on auto repeat. America bad West bad Russia China good. We get it we really REALLY get it Pak.
It will be interesting to see what I get called in this thread as the sound of China-lover is somehow off. Doesn't quite have a ring to it.

What you fail to mention 23 times and counting is that there was a big escalation in 2022 before the war. In 2014 when there was an escalation in hostilities the Russians did not start a war. But the reason you do not mention this is obvious.

All mentioned. Read the post completely.

Why do only 13 countries recognize Taiwan as independent?

Officially, Taiwan is part of China. As such (and along the lines of your opinion re Crimea and Donbas region in Ukraine), the governing party should be involved in any possible separation talks.

And lastly, as Taiwan is officially part of China, the US is meddling in internal politics of China. As such, China has the right to defend itself.
It's far more complicated than that. Taiwan can also claim China is their territory.

US often meddles in European affairs too.

Unfortunately they lost in 1949 and fled.

And we are not talking about recognition by certain countries, we are talking about the UN and international law. From that perspective, whether we like it or not, it is part of China.

To be considered a country in today's global political sphere, a territory must be diplomatically recognized by the 193 member states (countries) of the United Nations—and while some 13 countries (and Vatican City/Holy See) do recognize Taiwan as of April 2022, many others do not. As a result, although Taiwan was recognized as a country by the United Nations from 1949 to 1971, it is currently not in the UN and is classified as only a territory—all due to a particularly prickly political situation with China.
