China - Taiwan Developments

Think you need to call a nurse to tighten your straitjacket.

Lol....

I think you are mistaken Trumps' military with that of Bidens'. The current US military is a nest of woke ideologies. They are not training for combat, but rather attending endless classes related to racial guilt. America's military today is the joke of the world. Fleeing and running from confrontation, recently in Afghanistan, and getting a bunch of soldiers killed in the process. Too afraid to engage and end the Ukraine invasion. They may have the equipment, but unfortunately not the people anymore. Pretty much like SA's military and even more apt, Eskom.

If you still think they are capable of any warfare, in any war, you might be living in some fantasy world seeing Trump's greatness all around you.

Huh? Wft are you on about now?
If you win a war in 1 month, you don't go on calling it war for another 20 years.

Being able to bomb a place to smithereens doesn't winning a war make.

A US war in China will be 30 years or more, China is huge with 1.4 billion people

Dunno how much more I can simplify this for you.

Defeating the army of your enemies in battle means that your army is better.

The US army very quickly defeated the armies of Iraq and Afghanistan in battle which means the US army is better.

The US army would defeat the Chinese army in battle because the US army is better than the Chinese army.

Do you understand this concept?

Good.

Not interested in your sideline debate about the floating definitions of "winning" and "war".

Yeah...

My previous comment stands.

Nitpicking, but use military instead of army. Chinese "army" will likely beat the US one due to size, however the US has the stronger military overall.
Highly doubtful that we'll ever see ground combat on the scale where this will be put to the test though

Yeah I realized my mistake but didn't feel it's worth the trouble of editing.

But yeah if it was the US Army vs the Chinese Ground Force it might get interesting... the Chinese seem to have a lot more soldiers but I think the US Army has the upper hand when it comes to equipment...

As Mr. Putin is realizing. As the US realized in Vietnam.
Agree 100%.

I think since there is no real "winner" in war, "winning" a war can only can only be defined as when your objectives have been reached. Going into war without clear objectives is what leads to these never ending conflicts.

That is absolutely true.

Best way to win a war is to not have one in the first place.

I would prefer though that when wars do start, that all those journalists and politicians who stoked the fires, were forced to wear military fatigues along with the rest of us and help clean up the mess they started instead of them being allowed to hide in their offices and bunkers like they always do. We would have a lot less wars after that.
But they are good for business :(

The US fought the Afghanistan army?

Standing conventional war for now sure although China is a big question mark but guerilla war, nah.

And, as once pointed out, China has lots of US debt tied up, they can call their loans and cripple the economy.

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA —
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrives in South Africa on Sunday, in what analysts say is an attempt to counter Chinese and Russian influence in the region.

Relations between the U.S. and South Africa became strained during President Donald Trump's time in office. President Joe Biden has taken pains to repair them, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine has proved contentious.

I doubt either China and US wants a full on war, both have a strong military and nuclear arsenal, both are world superpowers economically as well, in a full on war between these two countries, the side that wins in the end might as well have been the loser.

Politically, I believe China have to show a tough stance, after the covid lockdown in Shanghai and Shenzhen few months back, economy is down the toilet, people are unhappy, and the recent scandal in its banking sector last month just pushed the population's unhappiness to a new height, President Xi cannot afford to appear weak on the Taiwan issue now as well, especially when his re-election within the CCP is coming up in a few months time.

There are obviously some power struggle within the CCP currently ahead of their election, politicians with years of experience are selfish but seldomly dumb, Pelosi's visits at such sensitive timing probably means there are some sort of deals behind the scene, maybe it's a ploy to help Xi unify the people opinion and get re-elected, or maybe they are helping Xi's opponent to rattle the cage in return for some favors from the new president, either way, I doubt a Russia - Ukraine thing will happen here, instead I think we are just going to have lots of military posturing, mouth pieces barking and sanctions back and forth, everything should be fine as long as someone doesn't press the wrong button and misfire.

Vast amounts of the world's goods manufacturing has been outsourced to China. If Chinese economy is broadly sanctioned or their access to energy is blocked, their entire manufacturing sector would collapse. Then, in turn, the entire western and global economy would collapse with it.

This I believe is the main reason for the West's axcomodative treatment of China. Not their nukes or military.
