China - Taiwan Developments

I am mind-boggled how he thinks that a website that is funded by the pentagon is going to be objective when rating an antiwar website that has been running since the first gulf war.
I don't care too much who funds it. You have sites like that that lean left and some that lean right. They are a dime a dozen.
On the whole they can't deviate too much or else they will lose all semblances of credibility.

So more like forever then. They struggled against small insignificant countries and had one victory with the first Gulf War but that was with a proper coalition joining them. Why not tell us about the great victorious wars you were in?
Being proud of being a conscript.
No i dont understand either.
Being proud of volunteering to go blast people you dont even know.
Lowest standards.

It has it's own bias built in, but that's beside the point.

The site you're being critical of has a higher factual rating than major news outlets. It also has less failed fact checks than the NY Times.
So you have zero basis for your allegation.

Factual Reporting: MIXED

What's funny is if you check mediabias's analysis for factual rating they mention citing reputable sources. So for the Washington Post (Mostly factual) they mention sourcing from NYT and for NYT (High) they mention citing WaPo.
Citogenesis in action.

Just come across this excellent article about propaganda, fact checking and experts. You'll find it interesting. Long read.

He has a chip on his soldier and thinks that because he patrolled the SA border in what was mostly a jobs program for poor whites, he somehow is deserving of a special caste status. It's like guys who played Rugby for the first team or were a prefect in high school and then 20 years on are still bragging about it, while everyone else moved on.
While I hear your point, Jobs program is a bit inaccurate or insensitive, you forget this was conscription.

Conscripting was to keep the white unemployment rates low. An affirmative action of sorts.
The army was there to give them skills. Ask many of those old whites who enrolled in the army how many guys with them had a matric?

Even with a matric, they were still forced to go. Only if you had uni entrance were you exempted if I recall.

They were called up at 16, many went to the army without finishing their matric. These were mainly the guys being targeted, the army served as a form of education for them.

It's not a bad system persay, many countries use conscripting to try and skill up their population.

Many, but not the majority. The majority finished matric and went to the army as it was compulsory. Please stop talking kuk and derailing the thread.

The majority didn't, back then STD8 and leaving school at 16 was the norm.

I don't remember any friends going off to army in std 8.
Because you probably grew up in a different social economic group.
When you enrolled into the army, how many with you had a matric?

I am trying to find old figures, but when I read up on the 1970s, it was something around for every 30 enrolled, 1 had a university degree, 4 had matric, the rest had ST8 and than a few didn't even finish school. (Figures are under correction). The government saw white unemployment as a risk and thought of conscription as a means to upskill the population.

Well, looks like semiconductor and nanochip warfare it is. Nancy's trip was only going to serve as extra nudge for Taiwan to lean the right way

The United States has expanded its ban on exports to China of equipment that can make semiconductors up to 14 nanometers (nm) in size and is considering plans to restrict NAND flash memory chip exports and blacklist a major Chinese memory chip maker, as China’s ruling communist party continues its aggressive posturing toward other governments in its region.

Those figures are from memory. But ask @Cosmik Debris how many people in the army had ST8 and how many matric?

You would think that figures on race and education from Apartheid would be easy to get on the internet.
