Chiptuning for fuel economy

So I was talking to someone about this the other day. Are there places that can do this cheaply.

What I would like is a car that has no power but ultimate economy. So I want the ecu remapped for the best possible fuel economy even if it means no power.

Not having power doesn't matter to me because I drive like a granny these days to keep fuel consumption down.

well chip tuning is generally done to tune to the car to its maximum. I doubt anyone will do this to save fuel. If you really want to save fuel, drive even slower and change gears quicker.

as far i have read the adverts for chip tunning, it improves both performance and fuel economy...

Invest some cash in chilled music and drive in a more chilled manner. Keep revs low and avoid constant accel-brake-accel-brake. That will reduce your fuel bill more than ECU remappings.

Also, pump the tyres to close to max = less rolling resistance = less power required. Not very comfortable though.

agree, and if you do pump the tires, better make sure you riding solo ...

If your car has a ECU you have spent too much on it. You would have saved more (money and fuel) by buying a cheaper fuel efficient car in the first place hehehe

All modern fuel injected cars have an ECU.

FAIL... after I modded my car, I have better performance (a LOT actually) and my average fuel consumption is down from what it was before I starting modding my car (from around 14L/100km to 11L/100km).

what car? what chip did you use?

I need to chip my Panda. 44kW in a 1.3 ton car = fail.

I drive a Ford Focus ST and I used Bluefin from Superchips.

Not sure where you get the 1.3 ton from, but it's still a slow car... takes almost 20s to get to 100 km/h... also I don't think chipping will help... if you want an extra say kw or two, freeing up the exhaust and putting on a induction kit etc...

I had my last car a Hilux 2.7 4x4 chipped proper custom exhaust fitted , consumption dropped by nearly 3L/100km , problem was it sounded so good when you floored it I started driving faster every where
so never ended up saving fuel !

Hmmm... I get the 1.3 ton figure from its 980kg actual mass (just looked it up) and 320kg of bull****
