Actress Christina Applegate is taking the long view of her battle with breast cancer - the really long view.

Speaking on ABC News' Good Morning America in her first interview since announcing her diagnosis earlier this month, the Samantha Who? star said she had a double mastectomy three weeks ago. She'll undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months

I think the least us men can do is to not go on about it so much. She will have reconstructive surgery because she is famous and her job demands it (not to mention that she can afford a full reconstruction) but there are women who are traumatised as a secondary effect to the fact that us men are traumatised by it. We love 'em boobies! I am sad for Christina, but I also think she is a tough cookie. She seems to be taking it well. Money does however make all the difference.

There are women who are not so lucky. I think reconstructive surgery should be a right for women who lose breasts in accidents or due to illness. Governent should pay for it.
 
Shame this is very sad news and not because she is famous, it must be like having your penis cut off.

She chose to have it done; without it, she'd be going for checkups every 4 months, with a good chance of it recurring anyway; it runs in her family.
 
I'm sure the reconstruction will look great!! Hope Dr Ray from Dr90210 does the op, hes great :D

I actually think she had a nice set... I must say she is pretty tough to be so drastic... But like you guys said luckily for her she can get perfect boobs now...

Makes me think of that Tannie Nora on Egoli story :)

You people sure like flaming someone. All I said was that her boobs isn't that great to deserve the public fuss about it. Of course it's tragic that a woman's breasts have to be removed. But you are going on as if it's a loss to mankind.

You miss the point. You came across as insensitive. I am not saying you are, but that was the perception.
