What is your standard/usual Christmas lunch? Do you change it up yearly, or do you have a set course which you only make on Christmas?

What do you do for desserts?

Christmas eve - roast turkey, lamb, and pork belly/neck. Roast vegs and potatoes. I let someone else handle starters and pud.

The last two years was a 3-course meal at Cattle Baron in Skukuza. Hopefully the same again this year.

Changing it this year. Going to do all sort of things on the braai. Mini sosaties, mushrooms, devil on horseback etc.
With home made ice cream filled with nuts and crushed oreos.

How many kudus do you plan to castrate?

Not sure if we'll do xmas due to COVID but previous years.

Big family:
Early afternoon: kofta and chicken liver pate with various breads.

Late dinner: Gammon, Turkey, Lamb, roast potatoes, fried rice, tzatziki, hummus, dahl, roasted red peppers, zucchini fritters, watermelon & feta salad, green salad

Pud: trifle, rhum baba

Mutton curry, prawn curry, roast chicken with stuffing, roast leg of lamb and gravy. Various salads and sides.

Ice cream, cake, fruit salad maybe.

Booze. Loosening of belts.

The usual.

Braai.

Beer.

Ice cream.
As the years gone on braais have become less and less popular on Christmas Day, more and more keep opting for hearty Northern Hemisphere Christmas time feasts, feasting on that type of meals would warm you up on a cold winters day but in a 30C SA summer day not a good option.

No-one in my family is big on Christmas. No gifts or anything. We just use it as an excuse to pig out and get drunk.
