Christmas Lunch

So I asked my wife if we are braai'ing and she emphatically said no. Its leg of lamb, roast beef, chicken and "groente". Yes I am translating what she said. And desserts.
I cook the turkey on the Weber - it's called compromise :)

24 posts in and thread gets derailed....

Where you going and what you doing with that whisky collection ?

Normally it is Eastern European food, which just for Christmas Eve is vegetarian. Pudding is normally various cakes.

This year we are tasking the family-in-law with Christmas day lunch - I believe it will feature lamb etc. and pudding is yet to be announced

But usually it is a bit of a debauchery on Christmas day..

My side of the family is English, and the wife's is Afrikaans, so we get lucky and get two Christmas meals each year. The English side on Christmas eve and the Afrikaans side for Christmas lunch.

English side is stuff like roast Turkey and gammon, served with roast potatoes, veggies, etc and Trifle after.
Afrikaans side is roast leg of lamb, chicken, and a variety of salads or sides followed by home made icecream with pineapple marshmellow pudding normally. We roll out of Christmas time!

Gammon, Leg of Lamb, some curry, prawns (spicy) , peppermint tart/ pineapple tart, then for new years is just braai. We all contribute to a pool and purchase from there.

I did not read Yorkshire pudding. My SO is English, she also makes those roasts etc with said yorkies.

My wife's mom passed away this year, so it will be the first Christmas without her. It feels really odd, as last year she wanted to spend it at her house for the last time as she was going to sell the house, turns out it wasn't the reason it was the last time.
This year it's going to be my dad, friends and some of their friends who don't have family in SA or alive anymore, it's going to be interesting I guess, but the wife wants it this way after her mom is gone. So it's going to be gammon, chicken, some eastern european food, some afrikaans, some english it's going to be a smorgasbord of foods.

I am going to be camping in my caravan over Christmas, on my own, just the way I like it. Still deciding what a lekker bachelors Christmas lunch will involve.
Need ides
Must be made on wooden fire

Usually big eats - hot foods - on Christmas Eve, then cold foods on Christmas day. Beef tongue, salads, cold chicken, ham, frikkadelle, and trifle with custard and ice-cream.
