Chromebook Pixel vs MacBook Air

Lenovo? Interesting - got a link for that? I haven't seen anyone mention the manufacturer. Haven't ever seen Lenovo make hardware for anyone else.

Windows laptops are moving to fhd sloooowly. It has to do with a combination of manufacturer apathy and lack of pixel scaling. Retinaisation isn't just about making a high density display; apple eg controls the ui standard so that assets double in detail instead of shrinking in size. It takes a level of governance and foresight that windows doesn't have.

Qualify that with a "for you" please. Anyone can use IOS and for me (see what I did there) OSX runs rings around Windows whatever version you're on.

At least OS X isn't a glorified browser parading as an operating system. You can install Windows if you don't like Mac OS. I was looking at it mainly from a hardware and battery life point of view.

Mostly, yes. Except the Macbook Air has 4x more storage space, USB 3, Bluetooth 4 and 0.17 kg mass advantage for $50 less.

Now, now, let's keep things civil.

I find it ludicrous that anyone can compare ChromeOS to IOS/OSX/Android. Download the ChromeOS virtual machine and experience the limitations first hand. As for the iOS vs. Android thing, that's been flogged to death already. If Google were smart they would have released an Android powered notebook in Pixel kit. That would be something.

The pixel is actually starting to make less sense.

Because of USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0? I just find that superfluous. I'm more than happy with USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0.

The only problem I have with the Chromebook, is the rather limited size of the onboard SSD. But the screen makes up for it I suppose.

Or, you could say that the Chromebook offers a far better screen and LTE with a built in SIM slot for $50 more. I don't think that the higher versions of Bluetooth and USB are too much of a factor, certainly fine enough to live with.

I would still take the MBA though.
