Circulating vs fresh air.

Not sure about other cars, but when I put it on auto climate control, the recirculating function switches on automatically. I always have the climate control on auto, so recirculating is always on too. I prefer it anyway, as with the trucks blasting black smoke on our roads and dust with all the construction going on by the side of the roads (with fibre and Egoli gas) it keeps all the crap out of the car.

I seem to recall mine also switches it on automatically when I do something specific.

Think it was when you use the demist function.

I'm sure I saw with my last service they changed some or other cabin air filter. When last was yours changed? That might be why.

Pollen Filter which counts as an air filter too...since pollen is very small. :)

Could very well be. When mine is on auto, it sometimes adusts the airflow automatically also. Will hear a change in the sound and then the screen on the infotainment comes on with the climate settings and then I see it has for example split the airflow from just nozzles on the dash to the dash and also the feet. I assume it is to make sure the car is cooled evenly. Either that or it is malfunctioning lol

This thread now reminded me. I bought this beginning of this year for my sister's car. Hers has that really bad miff aircon smell. Completely forgot about it. Maybe I will do it for her this weekend.

I'LL be honest thats a waste of money, mines was giving that smell , tried this out only helped a few days, and smell came back, got a new pollen filter (from dealer honestly didn't cost a lot) and that solved the issue.

Nah that's is exactly what Climate Control is over a conventional aircon.

It tries to maintain the temperature at a constant of what you set it to across the entire zone, by turning turning compressor on/off and changing fan speeds and vents.

Normal aircon would simply be ON at whatever temperature the compressor puts out and then you have fan speeds for how hard it blows. The temperate remains the same so you need to turn it on and off the whole time.

Basically if you don't use Auto one has to ask why you got Climate Control at all. :)

Yip. The other day my sis was with me in the car and she is one of those passengers that puts on the music or radio station they like and I saw her reaching for the climate control and I snapped and went "LEAVE IT! It is on auto and that is how I like it!" lol. I will tolerate the music changes, BUT LEAVE MY CLIMATE SETTINGS BE GOD DAMMIT! :crylaugh:

You sure it's an aircon. Didn't you mention you bought a Tata ?

Your car funny enough does create pressure, think about when you close all the windows and have the fan on full blast . . . Where does the air go ?

:erm:

Recirculating
air!

To create positive pressure, your car would need to bring in fresh air whilst storing / compressing it. That's not what happens when you recirculate air.
