Hi

I have a customer installing a diginet line (384k) from Telkom.

Telkom recommended he use a Cisco 1840 router. (It's for an outsourced callcenter he's starting - small concern for now) - so it's for VOIP

He will probably want a Cisco in the future but it's a little pricey for him at this stage, and he's asked me to source a more affordable alternative to that unit for now to serve his needs...

All recommendations welcome..

Ok here's the update from the customer:

Cool it's on that link you gave Savage.

Ok now - can anyone recommend an alternative manufacturer for this Cisco router?

A cheaper same spec'd alternative is what were' looking for..

Have a look at HP, Juniper and 3Com.

But I would say you stick with Cisco, especially when you going to implement VoIP and it will be critical to the business becuase its a Call Centre.

Stay away from 3com! HP networking is better than what a lot of people realise....

Also remember that all HP procurve products have a lifetime warranty. We once had a 10MB hub that failed, and they replaced it with a the equivalent product almost 9 years after purchase - which was a 100MB switch.

I'm not actually sure. He asked me for the price of the Cisco 1841 or an alternative as he says the Cisco 1841 is quite expensive at around R12,500.00.

So I'm trying to find an alternative...since we don't stock Cisco.
