I searched, couldn't find a dedicated thread for both games, though Cities Skyline 2 is the latest. Just a spot to share builds , suggested mods. Please be nice with one another and keep politics etc. to the dedicated threads.

So here's a creator I follow and a nice mod to begin with:

Another builder - mostly builds for look rather than functionality I think:

What blows my mind is how modders sometimes have a more logical approach to how the game should work / tools should work than the devs

I love this game and love watching people build their cities on Youtube in ways my brain just can't creatively build. Nice game for relaxing.

Yeah, I follow one or two guys aside from 2$20, there's one guy who's really good at organizing traffic and fixing those issues.

Biffa? I likes his as well. Also OverChargedEgg
Yeah Biffa, wasn't one hundred percent sure what his name was - intended to search but got sidetracked. :)

Trafic in II is so different to manage than in one. I still can't figure out if parking areas really do anything.

I put some serious time into the first one. Loved it.
I believe the second one had a terrible launch so I have not tried it. I checked the other day and the reviews were still "mostly negative".

It is a bit of a hit and a miss tbh. Honestly I wish KSP 2 had a similar launch / carry through than it has - since it has been effectively abandoned by 2K. But at least it looks like CS II will get "patched" up to snuff. Mods make a massive difference, though my biggest gripe is that you have to work through their mod store not workshop.

So

Is Cities skylines 2 worth it without Paradox's endless DLC?

I see it is available on Gamepass, but after the bad reviews and ridiculously large install size, not sure If I want to invest the time on a dud

There hasn't been any paid for DLC's yet. The 1 they had was paid back due to bad reviews lol. The game is fun, but I live city building games since Sim City. It's good now. Patches have fixed most of the issues and mods are available, which makes it a lot of fun.

Most people hate me for this, but I enjoyed the last Sim City more than Cities Skylines

I didn't like how small the maps were lol. CS gives more freedom to grow or even create smaller villages/cities.
The scope of Cities is legit
There are some things that Sim City does better though

I like the modular upgrades to city buildings in Sim City
The interconnected trading with other real players
Proper time based traffic and a functioning day/night cycle

The day/night cycle is just the lighting that changes in Skylines. In Sim City the traffic decreases and increased depending on time of day. Now that is legit
Sim City is also the older game, but the aethetic is way better. Never liked the look of skylines

The districts in Sim City is also much better like sporting districts / gambling / tourism districts, etc

Damn. Need to reinstall it now

Yeah I agree, Sim City was a great game. I wish CSII had the capability to trade with other players. That would be awesome.

You do get modular upgrades now though.

I like CSII's aesthetics more that Sim City. Looks more "real" than the toonishness of Sim City. The nature parts are just great.

Haven't tried CS2 yet
That download size is just disgusting

Thing with Paradox is you need to either buy in early (ish) or face a steep cost later. I trust the dev since CS 1 is such a great game (with mods).
