Civ 5 - no multiplayer games

O.k maybe i am missing something but i have never been able to find a multiplayer game on civ 5.
are there any players here?
 
Does not surprise me at all to hear this. The general feeling I got from the official forums is that multiplayer sux for a whole bunch of reasons... e.g. you cannot save etc etc

Yea also read that. but i would be keen to try multiplayer though
 
I haven't tried playing online. My brother bought the game so I have to use his Steam account to play it on my pc. Annoying as hell. LAN games work fine, but the lack of animations is extremely off-putting. And yeah, not being able to save and pick it up again later is kinda game breaking. My bro and I have only played a few times and each time we just get sick of playing and quit after a while. I'm over Civ 5 already. The world is constantly at war, everyone wants stuff from me, primitive cities established late in the game are annoying, waiting half a century to build a worker, and inventing flight, refrigeration etc decades after they were discovered in reality is infuriating. The last straw was when the power cut and I hadn't saved for over 3 hours. Normally I'm good with saving regularly but I'd forgotten then. So I just thought, **** this and uninstalled.
 
Gumpie, have a look at your Steam Region setting. Look on the downloads+cloud tab, you should be able to specify it there. Now, I assume that your region is set to south africa, try changing it to UK-London or somewhere in the US. Apply the change and restart Steam. Launch Civ 5 and see if you pick up any games in a different region.

If you have any luck, then good. BUT, just remember to change your region back again to South Africa, otherwise if you don't have uncap, your going to be downloading steam updates internationally. :)
 
I treid playing on the London server but have LAG, what server is best to connect to ?

If someone host a game on SA server will we be able to join ? Myabe we should try something like that.
