The company has also entered into an agreement with Vumatel shareholders to acquire the remaining 65.1% of Vumatel, subject to funding and regulatory approvals.

I suppose it's better than vodacom.

/edit I see they also own DFA... This could actually be good.

I've been sweating since the Vodacom story... Feel much better now.

is this good or bad news for vumatel users?
I think it will have little impact on existing users, and may accelerate the rollout of fibre services because of Remgro/CIVH's deep pockets.

That's no guarantee.. they'll want ROI like any other, and it might then mean their focus on affluent areas will intensify.

What? rpm commented that it may accelerate roll out? Not where. How did you get that they'll focus on specific areas from that?

Thank God it wasn't Vodacom, MTN, or the Guptas. Either of those options would have taken Vumatel out of the running for me.

Lovely. Im sure it could improve the robustness of their service if they can plug into the DFA backbone.

I wonder if Vumatel being owned by the same company that own DFA will be a good thing long term. They now control both backhaul supply as well as the last mile (like Telkom). Don't the other companies also get their backhaul supply from DFA?
