Nothing is for free, watch the spam when you give them your e-mail address.

The application may be free but they might nail you when it comes to acquiring additional licenses. Good luck though, I'd have got it if we didn't already have a CRM infrastructure in place :)

I think that is the whole point though. They want people to sample their product. Surely people are clever enough to figure that out going on? I for one wish more companies would do this.

Yep it's a pretty good idea. Unlike MS who charge you for the software and $700 per license after that :(

The only reason we went with MS is that it's more widely supported.

Normally you would need to pay for the software licence, plus the installation and training. The promotion on Entrepreneur edition offers the software licence for free and all you need to pay for is the installation and training, which also includes one-month free telephonic support. Normal price is R4300 + VAT and the promotion price is R2500 + VAT.

Free isn't free!!!

sheesh. then don't use it. Nobody is twisting your arm.

Thats exactly why I am not getting a copy. There is nothing stopping these guys from farming out your email address to the highest bidder. I can understand them wanting to send a couple of their specials my way after getting a free copy of something but to not have any "privacy" statement is unacceptable.

well, turns out the free part was not so free

Hi Gary, thanks for your enquiry.

I have also attached a feature list on the features of the Entrepreneur edition. There are other editions available with more features and therefore a higher price. Please let me know if you are interested in more information on the other editions.

If you are interested in a total CRM solution for your company or a department / division in your company, we would be happy to meet with you to discuss your needs and requirements and propose a comprehensive solution. We will also discuss the other, more advanced editions of Maximizer CRM that are available.

I replied that I would install the program myself...

Hi Gary, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

The free licence is subject to the installation and training at R2500 + VAT. However, you can buy the licence on its own for R1820 +VAT.

so, why should I trust a company that is willing to mislead me?

My reply...

Dear ____:

In your initial advertisement of this offer...

http://www.jr-b.co.za/Campaigns/FreeCRM.aspx

There is nothing that indicates any charge associated with the free offer (other than the words "terms and conditions apply" which is very vague).

If your company is willing to mislead the public in the initial offer, then how can I trust them in any further business.

I suggest you be very wary in future of "entrapping" people into a "free offer" and then letting them find out, that the offer is not actually "free" after all.

If your advert had been more public I would have submitted it to the Advertising Standards Authority for review, and I strongly suggest that it would have failed their test of a "free offer"

But I will leave it as it is, with a simple note to myself to be very wary of such offers in future.

if you guys were honest, you would have, at the very least, included the words "subject to an installation fee".

maybe this will be a lesson to you in future promotions. Do not treat the public as ignorant. It may just come back to bite you.

Good luck with your future business.

Kind Regards

well, it is their business. If they want to run it that way, they must deal with the fallout.

When our next product has finished in testing we will give every one here at MyBB a free copy, just to spite these guys.

Free is free. If they are aware that someone can install it themselves (which they are as they were willing to sell the product in such a way) then they should not force an installation fee on a "free" version.

When I first saw the "offer" I was very supprised as Maximizer is an international company and these guys will normally give free products away themselves and not do it through a reseller.
