Would do you guys rate as the better guitarist? Or who do you reckon is better than them? Clapton for me - not a big fan of Santana's style.

I like both styles of play. Its hard to choose one over the other. Their music generes are Poles apart. I listen to more of Santana's stuff then Clapton though.

I think this guy:

Is 'better' than both of 'em.

They are both awesome artists. However as a guitarist I reckon Santana takes it, while Clapton is a way better song writer.

Rolling Stone have the top five guitarists as :

Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards and Jeff Beck

I agree... But I listen to more Clapton than Santana.

And more Bonamassa than both of them combined!

Both awesome, throw BB King in there too. Santana on Samba Pa Ti was brilliant

IMO Santana lost brownie points when he started collaborating with noobs like Michelle Branch.

Clapton but Joe Satriani is better than both of them...
