I've been doing some reading and I'm confused :erm:

I'm on a month-to-month with iBurst through MWEB (have been for over two years).

I was automatically "downgraded" to these new BS packages that iBurst is trying to pawn off on us all.

I wish to revert back to what I had, a simple 1 gig of data with a softcap. I was always happy with this, and its the reason I chose iBurst in the 1st place.

Is this possible? Can I get back what I signed for?... or should I just go ahead, have iBurst trashed in the newspaper and cancel my account?

No one really has an answer to that question. We all keep asking it but no one who can officially respond from Iburst seems to be replying.

So is that a "no I will not be able to revert back," or don't you know?
I'm just trying to find out where I stand in all this, lol

You can move back, but the 64kbps is a VAS and will cost you R199pm extra. The new 1gig package is R149. You new monthly total = R348 for exactly the same you had previously.

Quite sad actually that iBurst one of the first ISP's to offer an "uncapped" option and now that the rest of the world follows suite they are moving backwards. Maybe they will offer an alternative to the postal service next, who knows...

That is correct. There is also a 128kb/s service at R249 per month extra.

That's very expensive for very slow throughput. The only reason why people may want to keep the throttled service is for those times when the throttle lifts mysteriously and people can download GIGs and GIGS. Otherwise it's cheaper just to by 1 Booster for R49 and have full speed access for that minimal browsing and email and still save R150 or R200. R249 is 5-6GB in boosters (R39-R49/GB) which is quite a bit.

Ok, so essentially my only option is to pay more for the SAME thing I used to have... its still cheaper than 3G anyway, so whatever!... just leaves a VERY VERY bad tast in ones mouth, I feel OLD.

Right, now just to confirm, I am a MONTH-TO-MONTH subscriber, through MWEB... are these options STILL available to me?

Lets say I choose to stick with the 2 gig package I was put on @ R198 p/m and I also choose to slap on the 128 kb/s VAS @ R 249 p/m totaling R 447 p/m... (correct me if I've calculated wrong) ... HOW do I (as an MWEB subscriber) go about amending these changes? and WHEN may I do so?

You can only do 128k with the 8GB and up packages. If you're on 2GB you can only get the 64kbps package.

I don't know how much you download. If you're someone who trickle downloads 20GB per month at 7KB/sec then this new deal sucks. If you only use 64kbps to browse and do 2-3GB after the cap, why not just buy 2-3 boosters at R49/GB. It's cheaper.

That was political hype IMHO. Every "well" trained politician knows this, two steps forward, one step backward and you have the world in the palm of your hand.

iBurst should just give everyone an extra 20GB to cover for the guys who trickle download 64kbps non-stop and then hardcap after that cap is reached. That is fair.
So a 1GB package becomes 21GB package. The 15GB package becomes 35GB package. Then - no 64kbps VAS. No tricks and no downloading 80GB per month on an iBurst account. That would be fair, speaking objectively. That 20GB iBurst could make so that it doesn't carry over. That way everyone would be happy - well almost ;)

You serious?

If this is the case then why has the iBurst representative r00igev@@r mentioned the 128 kb/s package... in my opening post I CLEARLY stated the package I was on, I'm going to go to Sandton and SCREAM!

Lets wait for clarification from r00igev@@r... better not disappoint me.

Go on the iburst.co.za site. It's clear there.

I just saw the booster prices for lower tier iBurst accounts. At 2GB it's R69/GB which is very expensive. No wonder people want to keep the 64kbps for free.

In that case, according to the iBurst website, I cannot even apply for the 64 kb/s VAS... so right now I don't know who to believe.

As I said, lets hear it from the iBurst rep...

I've stated exactly what I want:

So all I want from iBurst is a simple YES or an NO. The impression I have gotten from r00igev@@r is that, YES, this is entirely possible. So lets see.

He prolly made a mistake. It's 99% likely that what's written on the site is canon ie cast in stone.

What's more dg, is that with MWEB we are also screwed. It seems MWEB can't properly integrate their systems with iBurst. What that means, most likely, is that MWEB will get rid of its iBurst customers. Frankly I do not want to give my billing details to iBurst and so if that happens, I will quit and go to ADSL. MWEB sucks but they won't scr-w you over accounting wise. In fact once or twice they made a mistake in my favour and gave me extra GBs. I'm hoping that MWEB and iBurst get their act together, but I doubt it.

Right now, to buy a booster, you have to call MWEB, wait for an agent (they close at 22h00) and then order the booster. They then send an email to iBurst and I seriously doubt that someone there will respond within the same evening. More likely you end up being hardcapped and have to wait till next day till someone at iBurst processes the booster.

So, in that case... what you're saying is, iBurst has totally shown its old customers the middle finger and does not intend on doing anything to maintain any sort of credibility toward its loyal customers?
Who's interested on going to Carte Blanche about this? Think about it, they, without our consent, migrated us to new packages... I mean, not even MTN did that when they changed all their packages... I can't even begin to count the number of people I have recommended iBurst to, now iBurst is screwing everything up, and I'm loosing my credibility! Now I will take theirs!

You can't blame r00i, after all he is only human. iBurst has said that these 64kbps accounts are costing them a lot of cash, people are downloading 20GB/mo easily and sometimes people end up uncapped and DL 50-80GB/mo. That is hurting their bottom line, so I think, they are getting rid of this option and making it cost extra. In that way they end up recouping some money, getting rid of the 'cheapskates' pardon the use of that word - but that's prolly it and well maybe they can do something same time to avoid these uncapped speed sessions which sometimes occur.

To be fair, as said, iBurst should maybe offer the VAS, but give us each 20GB /mo (those who order the VAS.) 20GB is the max you can officially dl on 64k and 40GB on 128k.
