Not your best post ever. As if armed robbers drive cars with their own number plates on... they love false plates.
No!!! That is a step to tyranny. Why don't they use e-tolls for something useful like finding illegal activities like speeding fines and finding clone number plates.
Once an illegal numberplate passes they notify a cop car parked further ahead.
It's like they decide to reward people who commit illegal activities and punish those who obey the law. Politicians also don't want their family members in the newspapers.
What I probably failed to get across is that there are far more serious crimes to address. But yes, start with the simple things and work to bigger stuff. ATM the SAPS does very little, or succeed at solving very few reported crimes, and many are not reported..Not your best post ever. Well this is it really, I hope those who clone plates realise that hardened criminals do the same thing.
Rather drive without any number plates on, at least innocent people aren't inconvenienced by your criminal activity.
No number plates draw police and security company and neighbourhood watch attention on anything that isn't brand new

I rest my case. The technology is not advanced enough. You will still need physical road blocks, inconveniencing thousands of other road users.
There is a very simple system to get money for roads. It is called a fuel levy.
If your number plate is upside down, can those cameras read it? If not, turn your plates around. Nothing says they must be the right way round. That way, each pic has to be manually reviewed.
Nonsense. It is indeed in the regulations.

Is there anything in there that says at what angle the plate must be readable? :erm:
Since 2004 I have had regular visits from the SAPS and summons-servers about my "taxi" which has the same CA number plates as my wife's Jetta. Each time they come along to deliver a summons or to find out why I have not paid a fine, so I now keep colour photocopies of the original registration which is demanded. I have seen pictures of this, it used to be a Toyota hi-ace and now is a Quantum. When I suggest that since the said taxi has been spotted at the corner of AZ Berman and Imperial Street and Swartklip Road (this is in Mitchell's Plain) at least 9 times during 2013, it might be an idea to look down Imperial Street which is not a long street, I get a funny look as if not to tell them how to do their jobs.
