Clutch replacement quote bit much?

I found this post regarding clutches,i have a 2016 Nissan Qashqai 1.6T Acenta and have two separate quotes from different RMI approved mechanics...
One guy insists i just need a Single mass clutch replacement at around R 6k fitted and the other guy says i need a Dual mass clutch replacement @ R 17k
Car has only done 55000 kms...
Both mechanics did a test drive

Who am i to believe i dont know that much about cars?

A family member has a Navara D23, got told by Nissan the car has a dual mass flywheel, together with the clutch the price for parts was over R20k.

He has a guy who takes care of his older cars, took the Navara there and the guy say there is no DMF anywhere in sight and the car has a normal clutch, clutch is still expensive but way less than what was quoted by Nissan, fitted and the car is still pulling fine.

My advice, let the guy who says there is a normal clutch do the job, if you go there and the car drives fine, win, if not let him fix it. But what exactly do you mean R6k fitted? As in the whole thing costs R6k as in parts and labour? Because not even my Corsa lite is that cheap.

The clutch kit is R3000 and the labour to fit is R3200.Its an OEM aftermarket part.
The original nissan part is R7200

I have since learned that you can install a single mass clutch or a dual mass clutch in any car...each one has its pros and cons

I will def be going with the R6k option

55k kms for a clutch replacement period is a bit of a shocker. Something is chewing that clutch, either mechanical OR driver.

Did my wifes i20 a while back, total cost was R9k which I thought was reasonable, private mechanic though.

A clutch should easily last to 150k km, have you had the vehicle since new?

That is indeed strange, it's a detuned version of the same engine they use in their sporty models, it is possible they could have thrown the same clutch as in the NA model.
