Clutch starting to slip

So the clutch is starting to slip on my 2005 350z. Think it needs to be replaced, now at 135k kms.

What would you guys recommend? Doing it at a Nissan service centre or finding a specialist mechanic. I see new clutch kits can be bought for around R7k. So around double that for the fix should be the rough cost? I'm in Sandton.
 
Find a good spares shop and take the car to a reputable garage (Not a Dealer) if the flywheel (Warped) needs changing then big bucks. Otherwise I'm sure the bill will be under 10 grand.
 
RGM Motorsport in Strydom Park. Speak to Steve Green. Impeccable workmanship & vast knowledge. Decent prices too.
 
I don't know Nissans but there must be a good independant workshop that can change the clutch at a reasonable cost. I don't know if the flywheels are dual or single mass? If single mass it may need to be skimmed, if dual mass it should be replaced. Personally I won't go near the likes of SAC or RGM.

Contact Sach clutches directly. They have a shop/distributor in Pretoria. Buy the Clutch there and have a mechanic put it in. Should not be anywhere near R 10k

Say what? What do you mean? Their standard of workmanship is excellent as are their prices are decent. Certainly not backyard "Marks Motors" prices, but far from a rip off.

So what exactly do you mean by your throw-away comment?
 
You must be a RGM fan boy then. Their prices are insane. They wanted to charge me R3500 just to do a power run on their dyno.
 
No fan boy. Just appreciate quality workmanship. There's a reason they prepare & maintain as many race vehicles as they do, over & above their normal street vehicle work.

Their R & D work is top notch too.

But cheapskates will complain. By all means, go to Danie's Deluxe Dyno Tjoons & do a pull there! :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

I don't really know much about this so I would prefer the clutch to be checked before buying anything. Maybe the flywheel will also need to be replaced. In 8 years with this car the only maintenance I've had to do was replace the brake pads twice and tyres once. Oh and battery once.

Car in question. Still in pristine condition. People who don't know cars think it's like just a year old:

Ermm, those "Specialists" are using a template & simply inserting brand names.

Exact same text, I would not go anywhere near either of them, they are not "specialists" in Nissan, they are simply vehicle workshops.

Fangio testimonials are all on the same date - Jan 2017. Imagine that, 5 great reviews on 1 day, 2 others from the same date in November 2016, zero since then.

I'd say rather go to a supa-quick or kwik-fit instead of either of these.

No not yet. I've been to CMH Nissan Sandton before and their service was quite good. Will check with them as I need to go for a service in the next couple months too.

However I know most dealerships charge a premium for parts. When I did the brake pads I bought them myself from Star Brake & Clutch and got them fitted at Supaquik.
 
With such a nice car you really need to find a workshop that are experts in these cars.Its the same with my subarus.Either i work on it or my mechanic , and nobody else touches it.

Remember this is not a 1400 so some special knowledge might be required.
 
Hope it hasnt got a dual mass flywheel. Those cant be skimmed and needs to be replaced.
